no crank

Hi, new to this forum, I have a 2006 slk55 amg and it will not crank. new full charged battery, put key in and turn it to on position and everything works as should, engine fan comes on as well not sure if that is normal, turn the rest of the way to crank and nothing not even a click. I changed out the start relay and nothing. both key fobs seem to be working fine. Here is a little history, took the hood off to paint... then started the car and it started slow as if low battery but it started, had it outside for about a week and went to start and everything else seemed to work fine but no crank. So I replaced the battery and made sure it was charged full first and anyway no crank. Does anyone have any ideas, thanks

Check fuses. If all good, get under the car and jump power directly to the starter motor. If it doesn't spin, then....

Make sure battery is 100% percent a good one before you can proceed to any thing else like starter motor connections , key etc

Scan you car with a das/xentry machine, maybe is a faulty sensor. Check the electrical harness to the camshaft sensors for oil contamination.

Hmm..

May need scanning ...

Manual is saying to check the following

Power to the Ignition coils
DAS start enable signal not sent - scan needed
Voltage at the Main engine ECU

Was it left outside without the bonnet for the week ..?

But first he needs to elliminate the car battery first as in a new one etc
Or a 100% used one if that makes sense .

Then its test starter motor then key then ............

Update I do believe it got water in the E.C.M. I was talking to a merc. tech. and he said because it was outside without a hood and it snowed water got into the E.C.M. and created short that is why the engine fan comes on full when key in in on position. So now talking with a company that does E.C.M. repairs, it`s only money
