Cool Neeed a little recreation!

I live in Northern VA and recently took delivery of a 2008 280 SLK P1 Capri Blue CPO with only 3900 miles. A true garage queen.

As a shakedown cruise I took advantage of a buisness trip to Ottawa and drove up. On the way home spent the drive on the two lane roads through upstate and central New Yorkl Beautiful.

Unfortunately on the shakedown cruise my wife and I discovered the A/C was dumping its condensate water onto the passanger floorboard. The dealer in Ottawa couldn't help-----said that he didn't honor US warranties and that he was backed up for several days. Its now at the local dealer (not the one I purchased it from) for the second time trying to resolve this. The first time they cleaned out the drains; said they were clogged but it didn't resolve the problem. They've now had the car for another two work days (and the weekend)...........I love the car but hope the dealer is able to resolve this relatively simple problem.

Welcome, there was an old post from DansSLK about the drains (there are 2, IIRC, driver side and passenger side) where the attachment of the tube(s) to an outlet may get dislodged, and lead to condensate water leaking unto the carpet, in addition to clogged drains. IIRC, DansSLK recommends not using compressed air to clean the drains as it may dislodge this connection.

Welcome from London, where's it not exactly a top-down day! Sorry to hear of your problems, but it's a pretty straightforward situation solution as outlined by Eddy.

It's fiddly, and time consuming, but since you have a CPO car, should be sorted in short order.

It's also critical to get it sorted ASAP, as the passenger footwell contains the TCU and AGW (if you have COMAND), and you really don't want either wet...

Unfortunately the wet floor boards turned out to not to be such a simple problem. Dealer has reported that it was not a plugged or disconnected drain line....it was a "problem with the heater box". MB is now replacing the heater box and all the carpeting the entire interior and the dash has been removed for access and to dry out the wet areas. So for they have had the car since Friday, (now tuesday) I "may" get it back tommorrow. If not the next day. The good news is that the service manager has been supportive and positive.

My visit to Ottawa was great. My Canadian counterparts were gracious hosts.
The weather was perfect. My wife and took the chance one weekend and headed up into Algonquin Park- to a place I used to camp early in my childhood. The dealer I called in Ottawa was Star Motors - they were nice enough but not able to help.....also per my last post- the problem turned out to be much more complex than originally thought.

Sorry to hear they couldn't help, but very glad to hear you had a good time here! Star seems to have the best rep of the two dealers in Ottawa. By all means drop a note if you're this way again. Business or purely pleasure?

Thanks, will do. I have buisness in that area from time to time----my wife liked Algonquin enough that we may head up there again next summer for some vacation time. Not sure we will take the SLK though---not much room for camp gear!

I got the car back this afternoon. The "simple" water leak took the dealer four full days to diagnos and repair. They removed most of the interior to replace the A/C condenser housing and the carpet. The problem clearly existed since the car was originally manufactured and was not noticed by the original owner and missed on the CPO inspection (although interior moisture is a line item on the inspection).

The good new is the local dealer's service was excellent, stressing quality, over speed. The car looks great - no signs of the disassembly and everything seems to work properly and most importantly the footwell is now dry!

Unhappy the saga continues - a year later

Well, a year after the first dousing, I was cruising home after a weekend down in the Northern Neck and the closer to home I got the wetter my feet got.
Another trip to the dealer, another week without my SLK. Turns out this time the driver's side A/C drain became disconnected from the housing thus filling the footwell with condensate. It took the dealer a week to sort it out (and dry it out). While there the dealer also performed a water leak test and adjusted the window alightnments and replaced a couple seals. Again the service was great.....but I'm tired of wet feet!
