Not got one yet, wondering!

Like so many newbies we join the Forum before we buy the car but before I do I have a question.
At the Moment I have A Lexus Soarer, the 4 litre V8 model and a Suzuki Cappuccino. Recently I've just sold a TVR Griff 500 and a Mk1 MR2 so as you can see I have a wide range of needs. I want a car that's big/small, robust/agile but most of all I want a car with character and an open top, the Griff taught me that. I've been hovering around Z3's, SLK's, Boxters but every time I look at something I have to decide if I'd be prepared to give up the Soarer for it and that's a tough one. I didn't mention that the Soarer has an LPG kit on it so 45p/litre for your fuel just makes you giggle to yourself when you fill up and that's a rare feeling I don't want to give up. You can imagine that when Toyota decided to have a crack at the 500 SEC they came out with a pretty decent car.
Anyway, all the other expenses of motoring make me fancy just one car and my heart always wanted the SLK, the ally center console and the red leather is just about as nice a place to be as I could imagine but neither the 230 or the 350 come close to that sparkling madness of the Suzuki Cappuccino. 700 kg with 80 bhp of turbo madness in something that most people think is remote controlled it's so small. Anyway, (again, bleedin' hell I do go on), I met a guy with a SLK32 AMG and I was sold, that's the car for me. Apparently only 263 ever came to the UK so it's going to be a tough hunt but, in all your experiences with these cars, can I find somewhere to stick a 70 litre LPG tank, what do you think?

Welcome from Atlanta! I have driven the Z3, Z4, Boxster, SLK, TT and IMO the SLK is the winner. The retractable hard top, performance, looks, and quality was the best. Just my 2 cents.

Hi to everyone. I got a bit confused yesterday and stuck my reply onto someone elses thread. Advancing years, doh! Using the magic of cut and paste I shall paste my reply here but with edits to make sense.
Hi and thanks to everyone. I am quite active on the Lexus Soarer Owners Club Forum but quite a lot of welcomes from all over the world. Out today, blazing Sunshine so the Cappuccino (Google if you don't know, no ordinary car) was having a razz and I came across another Soarer at local Bike haunt Devil's Bridge. Always a Buzz if you've got something unusual. Watched a few brave souls leap the at least 100 feet into the cold river below. Absolutely fabulous day. I saw someone in a new shape SLK with the roof up, what the...on earth..are you waiting for. If I was in charge etc...
As for my SLK experience. I actually lost a Ł200 deposit on a Ł10k 350SLK but I already had the TVR, the Soarer, the Mk1 MR2 and I just don't earn enough. To be honest I've always loved the looks of that SLK, is it called the 170 but I do love a nimble sportscar and I don't think I've ever heard one called nimble. I've had test drives in 2 230's and the 350 I fell for and I thought they were absolutely fantastic but you hear these opinions and adopt them but a meeting on the M6 with a guy in a SLK23 AMG convinced me that the 32 answered every concern I could ever have. He even had Magazines with reviews.
I found a picture of a 32's boot open, using the search facility as advised with some success. This explains one confusion I had. The M6 guy's car had the aerosol spare whilst the 230's have a space saver of some dimension so the AMG is very different. Can anyone tell me what the boot floor, hatch arrangement is like and what is underneath.
If someone has a 32 AMG I could have a look at then I'd love a drive out.

Re; boot hatch arrangement:
There is no spare in the 32amg's boot, just a can of fix a flat. Thats because of the larger rim not fitting in the boot space.
Heres some pics from the manual.

Thanks for those excelent pics leapyfish. There's a song, http://open.spotify.com/track/7asLWN5CjWZd9Jdgwr7dTK, the Salmon Song from Fish Rising, I bet that's nothing to do with your tag is it?
I wonder just how much of that space could be liberated, I don't use CD's, allthoughan Album baby, fed on vinyl, I now love the MP3. The Air Pump seems excelent but I would still like my 45p/litre fuel.
Something I do need to do is actualy spend a little time with the 230 and the 32. I'm wondering if I have to get a car as good as the Griff just to replace the Cappuccino. I've had 2 goes in the 230 and loved it but people say that they aren't a good sports car and these things stick in the mind. these things are written by people who have access to just about anything. Perhaps a 230k would do me fine. The thing is though, on a day like today, blazing sunshine and I'm off to see a pal, 4 hours away and I'm seriously thinking of going in the 650 turbo, leaving the V8 behind and that's just a bit daft. An SLK would be good for everything.

Skidaddle,
If you want the xtra space in the trunk there are mp3 adapters that plug directly into the radio and take the place of the cd changer, or leave the cd changer alone. I have one and it sounds way better than an fm transmitter.
People will have different opinions on everything, if you like the car, is there anything you don't like about it?
