The 69-year-old had been suffering from "severe lung disease," according to the Vienna General Hospital, and had surgery on August 2 after flying home from a holiday in Ibiza.
The latest update on the Austrian's health, however, is positive, with breathing tubes having been removed from his airways.

A month after transplant, Lauda has improved
A month ago, 69-year-old Lauda had a lung transplant and has been missing from his role as Mercedes team chairman at races ever since.
Laudamotion boss Andreas Gruber told ORF: "I have spoken to him, but I hope you understand that I do not comment on his health."
O'Leary added: "I think he already feels much better, but he was in a critical condition. We expect him to continue with the remaining 25 percent of Laudamotion."
