In a shore road carpark near Ardrossan

Out for a run in the sun up to Wemyss Bay yesterday, parked the bike up to admire the view and spotted this lovely red 172.

The bike is great, I'm loving it!

After over 35 years off two wheels a hard tail isn't the easiest reintroduction, but I soon got back into it (duck to water springs to mind ). It's engaging to ride, to put it mildly. Every little ripple, pothole, patched section of road, and speed bump has to be watched out for, and were possible avoided, as they can bounce the bike about . Tight left hand junctions and roundabouts have to be taken with care, due to the turning circle being that of a bus, and I need to refuel every 100 miles. It pulls like a train though, sounds amazing, is surprisingly comfy over a distance (no sore back from being bent over the bars), and puts a huge grin on my face every time I take it out.

Great to see someone back on 2 wheels.

May I suggest you get some advanced training e.g IAM.

Whatever you do it is worth reading the Police Motorcycle Handbook.

Ride safe and all that.

What might be nice is to post in Off Topic a video of you riding it in a drive-by so that we can HEAR this "amazing sound"
