Diffuser for Piecha exhaust

Hi all

I have just ordered the Quadro exhaust and need advice on a diffuser please.
I see lots around and in know the Piecha diffuser will fit but I'm not overly keen on it.

Will the AMG diffuser be ok for the wider bore tips?

Running stock diffuser right now with single rectangular tips on my R172 200.

Will the AMG55 diffuser be ok?

I plan to also do this modification myself, and my research confirmed that the AMG diffuser, which can be bought from the dealership for around 80 EUR, will fit.

This is the required part number: A1728851625

Also anyone with a Piecha fit it themselves?

Do I need to buy any special sealant or do all the gaskets etc come with the package?

I want to do all the work myself hopefully.

Really nice.
I’m not sure I want to be chopping my bumper up though.
I take pride doing my own mods but butchering a bumper might be too risky for me.

I have the exact system you are trying to fit on yours...

Yes the AMG diffuser will fit ($100)

No you do not need any special sealant or gaskets. If buying the "Piecha exhaust" (actually made by Fox Sports and cheaper if ordering directly from OEM or direct vendor like Loony Tuns GmbH, than from Piecha), the exhaust system comes with all items needed to fit. And fitting is a simple drop-in.... Should take you no more than 30 mins to 1hr tops to install....

And this is how it looks when completed...

Good luck

Beautiful.

You using any sealant/paste or copper grease etc or just tightening everything up without anything at all?

Yes, I am using a paste similar to Sonax (when ordering the exhaust, I also added the paste to the car, but was never delivered), so I used a similar paste, that I found locally.

I think I’m going bareback as recommended by Piecha.

Pics later. Fitting in the next hour!!

Rain has curtailed everything and one stupid Torx screw on the struts.
Today might be a washout.
Even I have limits and patience.
Too cold and too damn wet.

Make sure to add the diffuser before mounting the exhaust, otherwise, you will need to raise the car again, and make adjustments.
Got my diffuser today, and the exhausts are now adjusted

Looks brilliant mate.

I’m spent completely.
I can’t get the exhaust off the rubber hangers.
My fingers are smashed to pieces.
It’s VERY wet and cold.
I’m angry and wish I didn’t even bother now.

But tomorrow is another day.
I’ll get it done one way or another.

Good tip on the diffuser.
Not sure how I adjust the pipes laterally afterwards but I’m sure that’ll be obvious once it’s all together.

For tonight, my SLK does not exist to me. I’m stressed out too much.

Not knowing how you're going about this, here is a vid using grease and a pair of pliers

Thanks but I can’t get pliers in the small gaps I’m working on.

I’ve greased up and used a few methods but it’s tough.

I have 2 off but the ones right next to rear wheels are a pain In the arse.

Weather isn’t helping either. It’s really bad.
I’m cutting the exhaust up tomorrow and binning it. Will make the removal easier.

I used no special tools, but no hands either.

I simply used a longer prying lever, and applied counter force to it. It came off, eventually.

Well it’s finished.

6181CAA1-3FF9-42B2-9AFF-D343C559F0E8_1572288582400.jpg

Not very happy with quality of diffuser.
Looks great now but the installation is a botch up of screws and bits of plastic. For the price Piecha charge for a diffuser they should be designed better.
They look great but it’s a bad aftermarket fitting solution.
