Have you seen one in real life yet? It looks much better in the metal/plastic.

And looking at the rear lights, they do look like a straight swap.

yes was in my local MB garage last week looks like they have taken bits from other models and put them on don't like the rear bumper reminds me of the A class one, but I did prefer the grill

I suspect if you asked Mercedes you would hear phrases like "Consistent design language" and "family- look". The fake rear brake vents have been on various AMG Sport vehicles for about 3 years. The Diamond Grill is now an AMG thing and again, the front lights and big air scoops are what have been the "performance car" features on Mercedes for several years now. It's really only natural that they have adopted the big scoops at the front, "eyebrow" daytime running lights and fake brake vents in the rear bumper as that is what tells you this is a fast car in Mercedes design language.

The SLK had similar design features to the C-class when it came out. Look at the W203 headlamps and DRLs as evidence of that.

I do really quite like it. I think it's a nice evolution and the R173 will hopefully be revolutionary.

Respect for the replies thus far that are not judgemental but helpful.
As an observer of the subject I worry that the cosmetic differences twixt SLK/SLC are so slight as to be inconsequential.
The end result will be neither a SLK nor a SLC & could be 'challenging' to sell on. No Mercedes dealer would touch it.
Such projects are often motivated by the concept that the car is a keeper & would never be sold, the reality is usually the opposite.
Finally new SLC's are cluttering up the forecourts, diesels especially so give it a year or so & they will be almost loose change making faffing about trying to make a SLK into a SLC even more unwise.
Take a while to reflect & try to be impartial & think with your head not your heart before proceeding
But we do what WE want to do NOT what others want us to do, so good luck anyway.

BTW I think the shiny big black solid plastic star in the SLC grille is HORRID & VULGA so unworthy or Mercedes.

Sell the SLK buy and SLC would probably cost less in the long run, j/s.

Have my doubts about that.

Folks have no trouble selling modded 171's (Lights, Steering wheel etc).

Much was said about how difficult it would be to sell Bluebadger's car when she was getting it painted purple.
Comments about respraying and not an oem colour surfaced.
She's had more unsolicited enquiries about it being for sale than I have for my 55.

If an owner likes it, there will probably be a buyer for it.

as I see nothing is new, will be waste to buy a new one, as mine is only 14k mileage on it.

thank you!
Found this YT video today this may be an old post but maybe this will be interesting to some of you!

Refreshing to see a 'can-do' attitude shown in the video above even if you don't like how the end product looks like.

Trying to turn something into something it will never be never ends well in my experience. My SLK 55 is a 2005 and it has had some tasteful mods done to it, I could try to modify it to look just like an SLR because that's the direction the PO was taking with it but it would then no longer be an SLK and it will never be an SLR so what will it be? It will be my SLK and not to be rude I don't care what anyone thinks about what I do to it I can't tell you how to feel about that but I will say the 40,50 and 60 year old cars that draw the most at auction are all original and unmolested, SLK my be sought after some day, one never knows.
