Sorry to dig up an old thread on this but I'm finding conflicting information regarding retrofitting this module. My 2005 SLK350 has the AC Off on the manual version instead of AC Rest. Is it still possible to do this conversion and is this the correct part number 1718300685. Thanks in advance

Yes, the part number you reference is the correct one to use. Don't pay any attention to the lights issue. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, so there is no issue with the AC compressor engaging etc if it replaces the 'AC Off' version like some have said if it's installed correctly with the battery disconnected?

It should be fine ...

Even after all this time there's still some confusion as to which ones work ....!!

Remember to disconnect the battery otherwise you'll need the AC system resetting with DAS ...
Avel Du likes this.

Thanks for your help. I tried to read every thread on this that I could but by the end it all became a blur of conflicting information of what would and wouldn't work with the older 'AC Off' version.

Just one last question, granted I have no physically taken a look as the car is in the panel shop, the parktronic bar just pops out of the rosette and can be reinstalled in a new rosette made for sun sensor and parktronic?

Thanks again, wish I was involved in the pioneering times with this and didn't have to bother you again.

yes, it just pops out. I found best way was to push from underneath the dash.

Are there Climatronic units that won't work with the earlier AC Off manual version? I'm going to pull one out of a breaking/wrecking pre-facelift SLK55 tomorrow but the vendor doesn't know/can't be bother checking what year the vehicle is.

Apologies again for asking questions that have already been answered previously. I did read as many threads as I could on the matter but as I was learning it all turned into a bit of a blur and going back through hundreds of pages to reference something that I later found out was relevant to my particular situation was incredibly difficult.

Thanks in advance, I really do appreciate the assistance.
