The adapter is for pre-facelift cars. I have that adapter on one light....

Indicator used the existing wires.

The 6 wires (3xR and 3xB) are for the DRL halo's. Soldered the 3 sets together and connected into the low beam circuit.
My wiring was a mess as a PO had fitted a light unit from an older model.

Thanks, that adaptor confused the heck out of me!
Would you happen to know which of the three on each side goes where?
Also, when you say pre facelift, is that before 2001?
Thanks.

High and low beams are all that work. Two three socket cubes too connect each side.

Please bear in mind that some of those that can help may not be online today,
or even the next few days.

Responses are often not immediate on this type of enquiry.

Although Jeff et al do try to make it quick.

Turn signals are your original units. They twist into the hole provided in the AE's
Just pop off the upper right cover in the first pic of your original post.

You are correct ref pre-facelift.

Mine is a 2003. Photo is of the MB connector into the AE connector, R/H light:
Colours. (top down) MB = Grey + red trace, Brown, yellow, White.
AE = White, Black (x2), Blue, Red.
The white + 1 black are sidelights, Red = dip & Blue = Main. Blacks are earth.

If there were four contacts on each cube, I'd assume one was common ground, but having three pairs of red and black I'm lost!

I didn't see that you are in the US. I do not have those "cubes". Are they to connect fender lights? We don't have those in Europe

The 3 pairs of thin wire, R & B are just for the "halo's" and you should just connect the 3 red together and the 3 blacks together. Find a feed that is hot with the ignition for the reds and ground the blacks.

Does this help? Install projector halo angel eye headlights on 1999 SLK - Mercedes-Benz Forum

I'm still not done with the wiring, but the fit is better.
Spyder contacted me. I need to give them the item number off the box they came in.
I'm down to the tree pairs of read and black on each light, and these tree contact cubes on each side.

I've a PDF showing the facelift headlamp wiring (probably a bit late to the party but posted nevertheless...) It may help you regarding the colour codes and the lamps, but don't forget the US lighting has different requirements to the UK/Euro wiring.

Let me know if this helps.

Did you connect the 'halo' rings to your parking lights?
