Spring compressors

I read in various posts that you must use MB coil compressors on an R170, and hell will freeze over if you use the cheap external type, but why is that? Had a peek under the car today and they just look normal, what the issue with external compressors?

I used after market internal compressor with almost no issues, they are a pain in the butt by default.

i had access to a car lift, so since my car was up in the air, i just dropped the lower rear control arm, rather than trying to compress the spring

It took a full day, but I concur with what has been written, without those coil springs and a ramp, fitting the Eibachs is not easy, for a novice anyway, even after compressing, there is still a way to go to prise them out, even after releasing the shock and other bits, but got their in the end, now rolling 30mm closer to terra firma.

And they only cost 115, parts for this car are unbelievably cheap. Bought an equivalent set for an E30 and it was 259.

Thanks for your help.
