Thinking about resonator delete

Been reading a few days now about the delete but I don't know whether I should just delete resonator or also delete the 2nd cats while I'm or the shops under there. Is there benefits of taking off cats? I want a deeper sound and a lot of people on forums say it's a good route other then spending $800 for a system.

Although we have different cars, I'll answer from my point of view, for my car...

I considered the same decision for quite a while before I had the work done on my exhaust. Another local member had the resonator delete on his SLK 55, replaced by an x-pipe, and still had the secondary cats in place. He very kindly took me for a ride in his car, and it definitely sounded better than standard... but, in the end, I decided to have the secondary cats deleted from mine too... and I'm delighted with the results (links in my sig)!

I've no idea what the difference would be for your car/engine though, so perhaps some others with more specific experience might also comment here too...

Remember in Floriduh, even though we have not had emission testing in over 30 years, it is still illegal to remove the (any) cats
Having said that, I am missing my primary cat but I also have the ecu tune. (see my thread here if you haven't

having an r170, my exhaust is fully custom, from the header back. I had my cat replaced with a high-flow cat to keep it emissions legal, but other than that, it's just straight through, no muffler, or anything. it's 2" aluminum piping with a set of C63 tips custom welded on. I have a Manzo stainless steel header, designed for the c230, wrapped and welded on to the rest of the exhaust. the car is quite loud, especially with cold starts. i"ll see if i can post a couple of videos so you can get an idea of it.

How different does it sound from just a res delete to res and 2nd cat delete. Id rather have it 1 and done instead of driving back to the exhaust shop, cut the cats, and not like it and have to put it back on

it is always easier to delete than replace.
I would remove only 1 thing at a time to see what the sound result is
