Fixed steering column to adjustable?

My 2001 SLK230 has a fixed steering column.

Now I can buy the adjustable bit for a good price:

But my dashboard doesn't seem ready for an adjustable steering wheel.
What else would I need? Has anybody done this?

Nobody knows?

Can you post some pictures of your SLK dash with adjustable column?

Is it adjustable in length only or up and down too?

Migsel,
I too would have preferred one with an adjustable column, but when I tried a car with one,
I thought the amount of adjustment was a disappointment and so I was not missing much.
Worth trying one for yourself before commiting to the project.
Length adjustment only, from memory. Seemed like only about 25mm travel. Can others confirm?.

Also, you should make more posts so you can use private messaging !

Ours is adjustable in length only (telescopic). It does not adjust up and down.

Thanks guys,
If you could find the time Tim, I'd like to see what the dashboard looks like around and under the steering wheel.
I would think that there is some kind of flexible part to accommodate the movement of the adjustable bit.
So I might need more than just the part that is shown above.
Cheers,
Michel
