Disconnect OBII port

I'm trying to take out my dash (don't ask), and I read that you use the slide mechanism to disconnect the data port (OBII) from the cover. Mine only slides halfway, so I can't disconnect it. I don't want to break it by pushing too hard. Am I missing something?

It only slides half way. Once you've done that, you can push the smaller part of the connector out of the larger part.

Ok. It just pulls out. I was being too gentle because I was afraid of damaging it. Got it. Thanks!
