Problem after LED tail light install..

I ordered LED tail lights off ebay about a week ago, These to be exact...

USA 98 04 Mercedes Benz R170 SLK Roadster AMG Red Smoke LED Tail Lamp Light | eBay

The install was pretty easy and I'm sure I connected all the wires correctly...However, My brake lights stay on like the brake pedal is being pushed in all the time..

I thought maybe it was something wrong with the LED lights, so I installed my factory tail lights back and still the brake light continues to light (stay bright)

Everything was working fine before the install and I'm wondering if something I did tripped the brake switch.

-I have noticed that if I barely put my foot on the brakes and press very lightly, they will stop, but if I let go it's back to bright again-

Any ideas on something I may be over looking? Has anyone ran into issues before installing these?

Hello MadHatter,
I have the same car and have first installed the LED model you chose to then switch to this other one as I was looking for the longer light pattern: Black Smoked Finish Rear LED Tail Lights for Mercedes SLK R170 96 04 | eBay

My experience with your model was definitely positive. Check again the plugs to see if they are well attached to the proper connector and possibly for any dirt that got in the way.
When I installed the LEDs I connected one of the plugs to a wrong connector and the left fog light would stay on all the time! They are not clearly labelled!

Hope it helps!

Problem solved

Went up to the Mercedes dealership and bought a Brake Switch for $42
Apparently that was the problem.

The brake switch is very easy to get to in these cars!

Something during the installation must have tripped the old one.

I just installed the DEPO smoked led tail lights this morning. Easy swap! It took more time trying to figure out where to install the resistor boxes than the installation it self. bolted them on both sides (1 on left, 1 on right) of the center hole where the factory plus is lower part between the parking and fog light.

scratch installing the resistor boxes near outside part of tail light. Even though there is a lot of room. the hydrolic arms for the trunk gets in the way (when stowing the roof in the trunk). Had to bunch the resistor boxes closer to the center of the car (in the direction of plate holder). On one of the lights, I went verticle using a bracket that is able to put one of the resistor boxes on the level of the bumper.
