07 vs 08 brakes on the SLK55

Hi guys,

I'd like to have your feedback/opinions on the brakes that are on the 07 vs 08 SLK55 models.

The 6 pistons front/4 pistons rear vs the 4/2: Major differences? Squeal? Braking power? Overall?

Thanks in advance

2008 SLK 55 brakes downgraded from model years 2005-2007. Never read of anyone that prefers the 2008 and later brakes.

Yeah Don's right, total downgrade.

Meant to have less squeal at the expense of stopping power.

Is it possible the squeal comes from not using the car too often as the SLK is for most a 2nd or 3rd car?

There is a mild squeak/squeal even on the 2008 US spec DNKY (a pun on namebrand clothing) AMG brakes after a car wash or rain but disappears quickly after some minor braking once the surface oxidation is burnt/rubbed off by friction. The brakes are quiet after that.

Mine have never squealed yet. I dont track this car so it doesnt get much of a work out, of all the cars I had squeal on it occured after hard use, normally track but after a few days settled down again. The downgrade is a cost issue the excuse is the noise.
