COMAND Navigation- changing map orientation

Hi all

Currently the display on my COMAND APS navigation system is set so that north on the map is always at the top. I want to switch it so that the direction of travel is always towards the top of the screen and the map rotates around the car, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to access the relevant 'view' soft key menu option. For some reason it's always greyed out (both during navigation and simple map display mode). Can anyone advise?

Many thanks

Changing map orientation (based on 2008 COMAND Operator's Manual 171 584 96 82 US spec): Go the the Display menu, press View soft key, 2D north up (north is always pointing up) and 2D heading up (driving direction is always pointing up). use the up or down triangle to pick. You want to pick 2D Heading up. Press OK button to confirm your preference.

Remember, go to the Display menu first. To get to the Display menu. Press MAP on the hard key (left hand column of keys/buttons on COMAND), with current map showing, press any soft key, soft key menus should show (Display menu should be one of them), press Display soft key, the next level should show the View menu.

Summary: Map>Display>View>2D heading up.

Thanks, but the problem is that when I click on DISPLAY, the VIEW option is greyed out and cannot be selected. It's the same in both MAP mode and NAV mode. This is what I'm finding confusing - why would the VIEW option be there, but not selectable?

What model year? Is the nav DVD the latest version? What does your COMAND Operator's manual say, i.e, is this feature explained in the manual? Have you tried ejecting the Nav DVD and then reinsert 5 minutes later?

May need some updating done by MB. What model year is the vehicle? Are you in the US? (perhaps update your profile when you have the chance).

Thanks for the response.

Have updated my profile, so you can see my vehicle is a 2007 SLK 350 and it's a right-hand drive UK model.

The COMAND instruction manual does cover the fact the unit should be able to switch map orientation, so there's definitely a problem given that I cannot access this feature. The problem existed when I bought the car with the 2007 map DVD, and persists since I have starting using the 2008 map DVD. As I say above, VIEW is displayed alongside a soft-key, but it cannot be selected.

Regards

Is the vehicle under warranty?

Perhaps DansSLK can give us direction in this regard.
