Comand software for radar?

Hey guys...

I'm still pondering over the pre or posr face lift model...

and was wondering if there was a programming API into the comand system.

Reason behind this:
I got looking at radar detectors (after several fines), and then had a look at what they looked like after they had been installed into an SLK... there is NO WAY that I'm going to do that to my brand spanking new SLK interior... not a chance !!

Is there a radar system that integrates into the comand system?
...or...
Is there a programming API that one can use to integrate some sort of 3rd party radar detector into the comand system?

Cheers
Rob

The short answer...No.

What kind of installs have you looked at? there are a LOT of concealed options, you don't have to live with wires and suction cups and junk all over your dash.

I don't know of any module for the Command to integrate a radar detector, however there are options on the market to integrate a Valentine 1 into the cluster and the K-40 radar.

NOT sure if this would work with the R171 SLK, but it is out for the C-Class, S-Class, and CL and E, ML.... have not seen it for the SLK.

Most high end radar detectors don't require a box on the dash btw....

On one of the other forums, a few guys had their systems integrated into the rear view mirror. The pictures aren't available anymore but here is a link to one of the write ups about it.

Hey noregret4life

Here's some great news... I spent a bit of time tracking down the sources of those videos back to Mid City Engineering (www.midcityengineering.com) and sent them an email asking about the availability of their system in the SLK, and I got the following reply.

Quote:
We have an interface that we designed for the SLK for the V1 but have not had the chance to test it yet. We will have testing done on the interface in a couple of weeks. In the meantime if you want us to update you just send an email to [email protected] and we can send you an email letting you know when its ready...
Now this in combination with the in-mirror-mod mounted front and back sensors is going to be a winner. You'll get the best radar detection capabilities with it mounted so high, and it is 100% completely invisible inside the car...

...it can't get any better !

thats good news. i wonder how much the interface would cost. I have my V1 sitting up by the mirror, and with the interface module would disable the LED arrows from showing. Since everything comes up on the MFD.

Yeah - let us know what you hear. If I remember correctly, the guy working on the kit is Rob something, and while he really seems to know his stuff, they've been working on this stuff for quite a while...
