Question Restored headlight covers – how long did they last?

Well, it looks like the dreaded headlight fairy has taken a dump on my headlights. The covers are chipped (well not really chipped, more like pitted) and I don’t like the way they look. I am looking into doing a headlight cover restoration procedure, either professionally or DIY. My question, for those of you that have been brave enough to attempt this versus replacing them, is has anybody had permanent results? Most of the systems out there have a maximum lifetime warrantee of only three years. Hardly what I would call lifetime!

Inquiring minds want to know!

I have the same issue with my winter cars (Schwarzie is garaged unless on the autobahn ). From what I've found, although initial results are good, it doesn't last. Not many f/u posts regarding longevity. Best was once you've done the restoration, the lights need to be protected from UV. That means garaged, covered or heaven forbid:

Well, my overpriced ticket magnet lives in the garage except when it’s rolling.

It totally depends on what type of coating you put on them afterwards. If you do nothing, then they will start to look bad again in 6 months. If you ceramic coat them, then they can last for years. They need UV protection just like your paint does, but even more so.
