Crap#[email protected]! I'm an idiot!!!!

I screwed up royaly yesterday.

While the house we're renting has a great view and is pretty descent sized (almost 2600 sq'), the garage is a little tighter than I like.

In order for us to have ample door opening space for the driver's side, my wife backs in while I pull straight in. (I'm not a butt making my wife back in, the left side of the garage is preceeded by a ramp that the SLK can't clear.)

Garage sm.jpg

So, we each try to get as close to the side of the garage (passenger side) as we can.

Garage 2 sm.jpg

Well, needless to say, I got too close and heard what no one wants to hear pulling into ANYWHERE!!

Fender scrap sm.jpg

I was planning to get the car repainted, but I didn't need to add any unnecessary body work . . . @#$*@#$%!

OUCH! I feel for you Kevin. I think the needed body work may be minimal and pray that it'll be fixed and painted nice in the end.

The photos probably do not show that the curb/ramp is that high on the left side.

Ouch Kev. Hope it's a inexpensive repair. Just found that one of the car wash guys raised my wiper blade the other day and scratched the back lip of my hood. I immediately ordered every Zaino product they offer and some really soft towels to avoid that scenario again!

My brother and I park the same way in our garage. He backs in with the Z4 and I drive straight in with the SLK. Sometimes I even get out of the car first to make sure there's nothing in the way before I park.

The damage doesn't look too horrible. Looks like it just scraped the paint off.

Cold Shot: I saw the guys at my Mercedes Benz dealer raise the wipers on my car too when they were getting done with Service A. Luckily they were gentle enough to not make a mark. From now on, I'll be asking them not to wash the car

Oh shoot. That hurts. Sorry my friend but your problems are small compared to mine. See pictures. No, not crashed. Had an engine problem on the highway and was being trucked to the airport when the truck driver went under a bridge and the aircraft struck the bridge. The aircraft is totally destroyed and we are training up in a new aircraft, a Bell 430. Life sucks.

From here it looks fine, some light sanding will take care of it, which they should do anyway. Unless you are gonna paint it soon, you should touch up the exposed metal so it won't corrode though.

That's sucks Doug... Doesn't look like that bird will fly again....

On the other hand you'll get a more modern, slicker lookin, faster toy to play with. And with a glass cockpit your job should be "a bit less stressfull"

Funny you should mention that. A week prior I took the car in for a B service they chipped the paint just inside the lip as well. But get this, they touched it up with black metallic paint! . . . WT*?!?! They said they didn't do, but they fixed it anyway. It actually came out very nice, then this. Guess they'll figure they got the last laugh.

You're right Doug, that will cost a bit more to repair. At least it's not coming out of your pocket, aye?

I am going to repaint the car, but not right now. We just spent €1000 on a kitchen island, so I need to let the kitty catch up a little first. I am going to touch it up, but it will look like crap until I can get it done right.

Ouch!

Looks painful but as always it could have been worse, if you plan on repainting just touch it up for now just make it look acceptable until you get it a whole new coat of paint.

Good to hear from you Doug.

I guess each helicopter model is a tad different to fly in, i.e., flight characteristics. Is there anything new in terms of flying the heli, like new software, where one doesn't have to use the feet and both arms, including the cyclic control?

Sorry for the Off topic question.

Eddy

Wow Doug. That must be one very sorry (and unemployed) truck driver. Hope you get back in the air soon. The wife and I just took our first heli ride a few weeks ago in the red rock mountains of Sedona. I have to admit, it must be a hell of a thing to get to fly - and get paid for it!!
