My Texas 2012 SLK350 has clear bra installed-INCREDIBLE!

I had the clear bra (actually the entire front, part of hood, mirrors, headlights, and inside the door handles) installed on my car. Amazing that you cannot even see it. You would have to be told it is there and then look hard to see the line across the hood.

I have had family members and friends take a close look at my car and they absolutely could not see the seams. Honestly, I never expected it to look this good.

Thom Pettigrew @ pro-tect mobile.com was so meticulous. He takes pride in his work. He looks his work over and replaces the shield if he sees any flaw.

If you live in Texas, this is the installer you will want to have put the shield on your car.

Thom is very professional and makes sure his customers are very happy! And, I am ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER!

They all look good at first and since you're doing the whole front end which does not leave any line so it harder to see the clear bra. It alot easier to see the line once the car get dirty. Just hope your does not turn slight yellow in the long run then it would look worse. I has mine done and was very happy with it the 1st year until those big rock chip that made it look worse with clear bra. Clear bra only protect the minor rock chip.

Actually, my car is dirty right now. I do not think having the whole front end done has anything to do with the hood. I am sure I did not clearly state what had been done with my car. While the front bumpers, etc. are covered, the hood is only partially covered. So, if not a superior installer, I think the seam on the hood would be obvious.

I am curious as to what color your car is and why it turned yellow. And, curious as to how a big rock chip made your car look worse with clear bra. I would think the clear bra would be beneficial because it would prevent paint damage to your car. As far as making your car worse, why would you not just have the shield removed and new one installed?

Please understand that I am not disputing what you say, just wanting details.

Thanks.

Thanks for your comment on my post. I do like to post when I have had work done that was outstanding. I want to help others make wise choices.

I will post photos once I have my car cleaned again and can take good photos. Raining in Texas so not a good time.

Thanks so much!

I have clear bra on my 8 year old BMW (dark blue) and our 4 year old red SLK. No sign of yellowing on either. May be the brand. I have 3M on both. However large rocks will mark as Klinh stated.

Pro-Tect (Thom Pettigrew) is located in Ft. Worth. However, I know that he travels long distances to install. I am a 100 mile roundtrip customer and I know he has traveled much further to install.

Mine is also 3M. So, good news to me that you have not had any yellowing. I am not sure what is meant by "large rocks". Typically, I assume that it is just small pea/gravel rocks that might hit your car. Perhaps it depends on area of the country.

Thanks so much for your comments.

My SLK does not have "fog lights", only "running lights". Only lights I had covered were the "headlights" and the "mirror lights".

3M warrants Scotchgard Paint Protection Film will be free of defects in materials and manufacture--including yellowing, bubbling, or cracking--for five (5) years from date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage caused by misuse, accident, misapplication, or ordinary wear, nor does it apply to dents caused by physical impact of rocks or road debris.

The warranty on most film protection can range from five years to a lifetime.

My ventureshield on my previous 05 slk 350 was $550 paid by me.
My lumina clearbra on my 09 slk 55 was $1000 paid by dealer.

The only marks I have (on the BMW) are from going over a mountain pass, and I was hit by sanding rock/grit thrown up from the tires of an on coming truck.

Pro-tect mobile charged me $550.00. I have seen these shields on some cars that showed all kinds of seams and did not look good at all. I am so impressed with Thom Pettigrew's installation skills. He makes sure it is perfect! In my opinion, $550.00 was a bargain! There is warranty. I would need to find my paperwork and check it out.

Hey Cheryl, thank you for the kind words. I am happy to know your install was everything you wanted and then some. If you ever need anything or have any questions feel free to contact me.

And for anyone that has any questions regarding clear bras or the different films out there feel free to PM me. I test all the new films that come out and only offer the ones I feel are the best for my clients. I also like to make sure people are educated on the proper care and maintenance of paint protection film as most complaints I see these days stem from customers not knowing how to properly care for their clear bras.
