Well the brakes work....

.. Coming home this afternoon, we were on a downhill section of dual carriageway that curves to the left. It's through a cutting with a spectacular view over the Cheshire plain to the right and high banking and woodland on the left. So although not exactly unlimited visibility of the road ahead, it is a fast piece of road. It's not unusual to see a mobile speed camera at the bottom of the hill and if you're really on it, it's got your mug shot before you can slow down.

All this in mind I'm driving just below the legal limit, get round the corner and......... two elderly ramblers have climbed over the barrier on the left and are hurridly crossing the carriageway in front of us.....

Stood on the brakes and the car just stuck it's nose in the ground and stopped. Slight very brief squeel from one of the tyres, but otherwise no drama. The old folks made it to the central barrier and then proceeded to cross the other carriageway.

I've no idea where they were going to, but I hope the stress was worth it. They were very lucky. We were the only car there at that time, with more traffic they would have been struck down for sure. Quite scary really.

Cool. We're further west, near Chester. Next time you're venturing over this way, give me a nudge and we'll try and say hi..

It was a bit of a one off. Went to a wedding party and was in Jens Astra so when I encountered the 172 I could only lok and not wave. Mind judging my the electric gates it went through I doubt I would have got a wave back LOL

Dont know anything about 172,s but it had four pipes out the back

Dimi, glad neither you nor the child were injured!
