First time tough decision

You guys have been great help. Have a choice of 2008 slk 350 in black or 2009 slk 300 palladium silver. The 350 has sport package, not sure what Canadian package is. Both cars have similar mileage. The 2009 has about 16 months factory warranty left and is at aMB dealer. 350 is at a Chev lot.

Suggestions on what a first time Benz buyer should do?

THE 2009 300 VIN NUMBER IS WDBWK54F39F196430

Silver is easier to clean, but I would get the 350

Best choice

I believe the 2009 has the upgraded audio stuff for Bluetooth and IPod. Perhaps a more knowledgeable member can tell you more accurately.

First check the CarFax report and maintenance record. If they are both good then I recomend the 350. If they have similar mileages it means that the 09 been used more than the 08.

The "Canadian" version excludes some options and packages some options so they are not `optional`. I also remember hearing they have a heated steering wheel. Ask for and post the VIN from Carfax and someone here will look it up and let you know the exact options.

PS I am also in Delta BC if you need any help with SLK.

Lad,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your vehicle (model and year)(put looking) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. And it only takes about 30 seconds to do!

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member or guest will address your question.
If you wish to PM (Private Message) someone, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
New members and guests should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last.

Buying a used car with 16 months of factory new car warranty has a lot going for it. Anything you find not working will be fixed on MB's dime and not yours. It is also at a MB dealer and if Canada is like the US is the dealer doing a CPO on it. This would give you another 12 months warranty at the end of the factory warranty. Tis could now give you 28 months warranty. But you got to like the car over the 08 and only you can answer that.

Post the VIN and someone will get you the datacard which will list what was on the car at the time it was built.

Thanks so much

That's perfect. They are claiming it has premium package which to my understanding would include power seats with memory and steering wheel. I drove this one last week and seats and wheel adjust are manual, so unless Canadian package is different, price should come down.

If priced the same, my choice would be the 2009 with updated cockpit COMAND NGT 2.5.

A factory warranty on this car IS a big deal, and if it IS CPO, that makes it even better. What ARE the mileages on the cars as that figures greatly in the warranty time remaining. Now, options are nice, but have you driven both cars? You need to do that as the 350 has a bit more ooomph which may be to your liking and aftermarket warranties aren't that expensive.

Contact Der Flieger about buying in the US.

"Think as I think," said a man,"Or you are abominably wicked; You are a toad."
And after I had thought about it, I said,
"I will, then, be a toad."(Thank you, Steven Crane)

Think outside the box!

so...28-30,000km?
I think you'll like the sliver (as far as caring for it) but the 350 will give you much better...performance. (though the 300/280 is still a fun car to drive)

Sent you a pm...you are so close to the US...you should consider a US car for huge savings.

VIN for 2008 350

Just got the VIN number for the 2008 350 if Reb or someone could run a data card on it, that would be much appreciated.

WDBWK56F78F188682

Got one. Thanks.
