Employed a fine young man to refurbish my "curbed" wheels. I think they came out fantastic. $300 for all 4!

Found a cup holder at O'Reilly's for $6 and it made a light bulb go off in my head.

Took it home and mounted it on the side of the console on the passengers side. I am 6' with long arms.....works for me!

As some already know, Sophie has suffered some damage. (No pics as in hands of my insurance twits & I didn't use the 'a' they deserve).

The drivers mirror was wiped and therefore the indicator from that was causing the rapid repeat that a bust bulbs gives.

Both driving me nuts.
So, mirror from Halfords (20) with blind spot bit.
Took motor out and saw the indicator connection out.
It is in a typical 'no owner will be able to touch this' position (same as Japanese bikes).
Much patience/contortion/naughty words and I have a working indicator. TFFT.
No more irritating rapid repeat.

Mirror a bit of a bodge (I've added tape to make sure it doesn't fly off due to loose cover,
but this is being replaced during body shop work.
And yet another winner, the motor still works.

So, the biggie, the roof.
My mech says should be ok, ditto bodyshop and myself.
It does, phew.

Downers...Essex f*&^&*g CC.
2 tickets for bus lane infringement.
His 'n hers tickets.
Normally I'd fight it but too far away & busy instructing insurers over 55.
Poor signage, which by the time you see it your are committed and cannot get out of the lane safely.
I thought cash generators were in trouble, but apparently the Essex branch is in full swing still.

Parked on a city street in Queens, NY today and came out to find this moving truck parked next to my car.... can you say what??? I was aghast and apoplectic.... who wouldn't? I waited for the driver/mover to show up and he snarkly remarked that I should thank him for doing a good job parking the truck so close without touching mine. I was speechless....

Yes, that was my day today in a nutshell...

from deepest, darkest Essex I hang my head low and send my sincere apologies. You are not the first and you wont be the last and it hits all of us, including those who live in this fine county. The good news is the car sounds like it is looking after you. Keep smiling, hopefully the cost of the tickets will be passed on to a good cause but I suspect it will pop up in some exec's annual bonus !! But you are safe and it sounds like Sophie is on the mend.

I would be a tad upset to say the least - not sure I'd have the courage to park that close !

Sadly, its that time of year for a long winter's sleep

Washed, waxed, dry sheeted, moth ball packets and steel wool up her pipes

And a last drive to dry off her pads and its off to sleep.

^^^ SAD, indeed.... OTOH, temp was 60-70F and sunny today as I drove in from NYC to Beantown. Even got to drive top-less for 200+ miles... so no plan for hibernating mine anytime soon.

Curious Paradox - What did they charge in New Zealand to do the install ?

Plus do you plan on doing the updates yourself ? Exposed USB.

$230, quite reasonable for the time frame.

Yes I do, programming it was easy, I can't imagine updating it to be any harder.

Good Morning Paradox,

It's 6:30 am, here in Chicago :-), Reason I asked is that I just had the Smart Top installed

in my '06 SLK55 that I keep and drive in California. The audio shop charged me $159.00

and it took the young man about an hour and half. He opted after asking me to put

everything back without exposing the USB. I will be upgrading the Head Unit (audio) and

projector head lights with a front camera (tried of scrapping front spoiler on curbs). So,

when he gets in there again going to set the ST to do the passenger mirror and DRLs.

Again thanks for the quick reply. Hope you had a great day.

I got the spare '01 SLK230 back from my son, but I don't think I can afford to keep it around as a spare/parts car, as parking and stuff costs money in Chicago. So, anyone looking for a Kompressor? Seats need recovering but it's in OK shape for its age, would like to get $2200 for it. Will post in the for sale too.

Still got the '01 SLK320 though.

Worth putting in either

https://www.slkworld.com/slk-parts-sale/ if breaking

Or as a complete car in https://www.slkworld.com/slk-cars-sale/

It will get lost in these threads.
