rear ended

typically I drive my commuter to work except today I had to drive it since the insurance company wanted to inspect my cedes..

3 minutes to work, the Red light turns Green and WHAMMM!! My car gets rear ended..

Good thing is, the only damage to my cedes is a second license plate engraved on my bumper..The Sad thing is, when I get it repaired, it will take forever and a day just to have it back.. and the time and energy that I wouldve put into it..

Make sure to have the vehicle thoroughly inspected. Rear end damage can be hidden.....what you don't see might include bent or crushed supports, compressed impact dampening materials, etc.

What a bummer... I commute in my SLK every day and so far I've been lucky in San Diego. My previous vehicle did get rear-ended once by someone who badly miscounted the number of cars in front of him at a "Two cars per green" metered onramp. Oh, he was also on the phone.

The good thing is it sounds like you are OK yourself. Hopefully you can get your car back to working order very soon.

Sorry to learn about this. Make sure the body shop does a proper take-down of the rear bumper to inspect for hidden damage and make sure the roof and its associated mechanisms have not been thrown off alignment.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate it.

I'll definitely let the shop to thoroughly check every bits and pieces, inside and out..I didn't think about the roof but definitely a must now that I think about it.

And yes, I am definitely ok but my feelings are definitely hurt...LOL!

...

Keeping my fingers crossed.... bumper and left exhaust was actually hit harder than I thought, but the car is ok.

Trying to find out if the shop will be able to replace my orig. bumper to an AMG or piecha bumper..atleast that was what he said..

then the quad exhaust if exhaust is really that bad...

Most unattentive drivers behind you are on cell phone. Watch them on your rear view mirror and get out of that lane.

Nice, both SLK55-style front bumper and Carlsson-style rear bumper apron/diffuser are from ED right? They look almost grey in color. Can't wait to see the final product too!

You are dead on James!! I was actually going to get the same kit as you cus I love that aggressive look but realized that I wasn't ready to give up my front bumper from being cutoff in order to put the CS front. As far as the rear goes, it worked out perfectly since that was damaged to begin with.

All in all, i'm happy with the decision. Main focus now is how I will paint the front..hmm..oooh and then quad exhaust since I'm gonna have to now..

Cheers!

Are you sticking with the AMG sideskirts instead of the Carlsson sideskirts? Either option looks great regardless. As for the SLK55 front bumper, I believe Carlsson makes a front lip if you ever decide to go that route. What are you going to do with the rear bumper apron/diffuser? Are you going to paint the whole thing the same as your body color, paint the diffuser black, or wrap the diffuser in vinyl?

I'm actually sticking with the amg side skirts.. Figured id save pocket me some dough for the exhaust..Although with the pic u posted with amg55 front and CS side, look nice!! And ya, the rear is gonna be like urs with the diffuser painted in black...

As far as the front goes, I'm not sure if u remember on a differen thread that I was gonna go imitate the amg55 facelift.. Hope that turns out ok.. Crossing fingers.

Yet again I juz got rear ended last night...!! whats worst is that its my aftermarket..WTF!!? sigh... Any who this time they claimed that I was rolling back and hit them, when it was clearly I was stopped at a red light and they hit me...

I know they are going to try to tell that to their insurance and what sux is that I dont have witnesses...she had three other people in the car with her...

Its all up to the insurance now.... What really sux about this is that my car has been back and forth in the shop for my mods and now that i'm 95% finished, this thing happens... such bad luck i have with this car so far...

Sorry to hear, man. That sounds like a pretty bogus story that the insurance company will hopefully not fall for. Make sure you send in a form to the DMV describing the accident (since damage is no doubt over $500).
