Aftermarket Body Kit Removal

My 2006 SLK350 (not AMG) was hit by some road garbage and the aftermarket body kit fender vent was damaged. These were added by a previous owner so I am not sure who the manufactureer is or who installed them. Can anyone tell me how to remove them?

This thread needs pictures.

Do these vents actually open up into holes in the fender, or are they purely decorative? If there are no holes behind them they are probably just glued on. In that case you might try the procedure that people use to debadge their cars: take a hairdryer to heat up the general area a little bit (or leave the car baking in the hot sun for a while). Then use fishing wire (or some other kind of nylon wire) to cut through the glue behind the vent.

If they are "real": the fender had holes cut in it, etc, the vents may be screwed on. In that case you may have to go in through the wheelwell.

Thank you. I think they are glued onto the body and I will try your method to remove them. I would be glad to post a photo but I don't know how to do it.
