Because the car is always parked outside, I won't drop the roof if I think there is too much ice on the seals. Last thing I want is to tear a roof seal. I'd guess that -5 degC is pretty much the coolest that I've had the top down, cooler than that and the old ears get too cold for me.
As for when it's too hot. It's not the temperature I have a problem with as such (this is England afterall). If the sun is right overhead and I have a tee-shirt on, my forearms just get completely roasted, especially when stuck stationary in traffic. Being a follicly challenged, freckly Englishman; salmon pink sun-burned forearms is neither fashionable, comfortable or healthy. Just horrible and I don't care if that makes me a wimp. If I know it's going to be a roaster, then a long-sleeved shirt is the ticket and I'm good to go.
