dont text and drive... and thanks for the help on the thread below relating to the wheel

so yea.. i got into an accident...

and what caused the accident... was that... well i dont really check my phone calls or check my phone very often

so i was driving... and i looked at my phone to see if there was any missed calls or txt msgs.

there were over 30 txt msgs and 20 missed calls from my gf, and obviously when u see that many texts and missed calls, u get nervous and wont be able to concentrate.

so i checked my phone and there were bunch of bad things on the text msgs. (i didnt check my phone over about 3~4 hours?, yea shes crazy)

anyway i tripped out and didnt look at the road. and i slided 2 parked cars on the right side of my car.

they got some minor body scrapes and flat tires, and my slk had fender, front bumper and the rim damage

well, they came out, i gave them my insurance, contact info and etc. and i tried to put the spare, but the rim wasnt coming out, i found out that there is a huge suspension damage behind the rim so it wasnt coming out... i did the left, right trick to get the rim out but it wasnt drive-able.

so i left the car there, called the towing next day and it's in the shop right now

anyway thank you so much for the help and i wont be seeing my slk for about a week or so...

I'm glad you're ok and so sorry about the damage to your car (and insurance). Very courageous of you to pass on your lesson to the rest of us.

Seriously folks, there are too many accidents and fatalities out there due to "distracted drivers". Either pull over if you think it may be important (ie some one you know is very sick or very pregnant) or turn the thing off when you get in the car. Everyone that knows, cares or loves you (or all the above MSgt) will understand!
Sermon concluded....

Hope you got things sorted out with the gf too!

Not much for "Government" regs, but...

This is a law that actually needs to be made AND enforced. Use a blue tooth if you must, pull over and talk, but please, please don't be holding a cell and "trying to drive". I almost nailed a guy who was texting and jaywalking. I've seen people in North Carolina State Owned vehicles "steering" with their knees and texting - weaving all the while.

Sorry to hear about this. You did something stupid and got off lightly IMO.. There is no excuse for driving with your eyes not on the road.

Perhaps you would be better off without people who are so "crazy" [in your own words].
