It's pretty straightforward, and I thought was covered in the DIY section, but I can't find it at the moment.

Basically 5 years / 100k miles is the recommendation - remove the air cleaner, and prepare to get your hands dirty. Pull the coil covers. It also helps to have a valve wrench to help remove the .plug boots, the last ones (nearest the windscreen) are a pain in the arse to get off..

Darkic,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your location/vehicle (model and year) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’.

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response. Be patient and a knowledgeable member or guest will address your question.

Thank you,
Jeff

Darkic, have you done plug changes before ? It really is fairly easy, but one must have patience unfastening the plug wires from the coils. I used a small bladed screw driver to free the "clips"... you'll see. Also, I had to use a 15" breaker bar to get the plugs free(those things were tight) . Hopefully you won't need to do that. IF the plugs ARE tight, do not strike the wrench(spanner?) with anything (like a hammer), just use steady "muscle" to get them free.

Good luck.

M272 has one plug per cylinder, so you only need 6, unlike the M113, which does have 2 per cylinder for a total of 16.

Did I miss 6 when I changed mine... Sorry, I couldn't resist, especially since John had already answered. Most people who haven't changed plugs are a bit nervous, and that's why I asked. It's the air-filter/intake box that is a real pain. Make sure you get the "hoses" off and unclip the "stay" on the back of the box(heavy silver "wire" thingy), then give it a good pull! Be careful putting it back on; it IS a bit tricky(again, you'll see).

My pleasure! I can't remember having a set of original plugs being that tight; darn near pulled a muscle getting the first one out ...after that, the breaker-bar made it a good bit easier.

By the way, where ARE you located?

Take care!

Mercedes service told you this? I think I'd try to locate a new service or make them a wager; If they can't find the other 6 plugs, the next service is free!!!

Take care!
