Along these lines, I'm sure most of you are aware that you should never store your home address under the "Home" button. If your car were to be stolen the thief now has your home address and, probably through your homelink, easy access to your house.
In my particular situation the HOME button saved my ass. It was after Hurricane Wilma, I think, and they closed causeways to the beach down to anyone who did not live there. I left my wallet at the house and went back to get it and they would not let me back on the causeway. I was able to prove to them I lived there by pressing HOME and having the addess come up.
In my situation, it doesn't matter. Being built in 1925, my garage is attached to the house but has no enterances to it. You must go out the garage's side door, along a covered Loggia and then key unlock the side house door.
If my car is stolen, it's electrics will be cut to disable the On-Star, and it will be loaded in a box for Columbia or somewhere.
Everytime I take a loaner car back to the dealer, or a rental car back, I delete all the previous destinations as part of habit.
The next owner of my car will not get the previous destinations, but they will get a DVD including scans of pictures, original window sticker, order form (as well as paper) and even dumps of the MBUSA SLK web site that year, history of the car, etc.
