Loaners

Well my car is in the shop and when I asked about a loaner they told me I wouldn't get one until the fifth day of sevice per DACO (Consumer Affairs Department) regulations. What's the situation at the various dealers? Whenever my dad took in the Navigator he got a Mercury, which is not the same but it's still a car. I know a loaner is kind of a favor a privilige if you will, but it sucks being stuck at the house on vacaction. I had fantasies about taking the new C-Series to the track.

Any time my dealer has to keep the car overnight, I get a loaner. Same for both the SLK and E. I take to Walter's Merc in Riverside, CA. Hope that helps.

I get a loaner. It's usually an MB unless they're out of loaners and I didn't make an appointment for service. In that case, they pay for a rental car.

It really varies from dealer to dealer. They all have their own policies. I go to the one which gives a loaner.

Wow, it seems I'm getting a raw deal here. haha. Well Garage Isla Verde is the only dealer on the island so that's about it. They only pay up to $15 in cab fare when you leave the vehicle. I am not angry since I don't need the car right now but I can imagine if i was working how stressful and how much of an inconvinience this would be.

I've received a Mercedes loaner every time I've had it in, except the one time I dropped in unexpectedly (manual transmissions gear lever got stuck in 2nd gear, thankfully not far from the dealership!), for which they paid for cabs to get me home & back (since the rental car place was closed by that time), and then rented me a car the next day. Awesome service.

Though it would be nice to get something other than a B200 as a loaner, albeit it's always been a Turbo (which I found hilarious -- tires spin and traction control kicks in when accelerating from a stop just about every time!).

The dealership that I go to, American Service Center, have always given me a loaner-whether it's scheduled maintenance or just an oil change. They have an Enterprise Rent-A-Car next door that they work with to provide their customers a loaner. It's possible to get a Mercedes loaner (like C300) if you request it in advance when scheduling your service appointment. The only catch is your Mercedes must be purchased from them.

I've always gotten a loaner, and I think always a Mercedes. In Eurpoe it's a variety of A's, B's, C's and the odd R class, stateside seems to always be a C300 with the AMG Sport Package.

I always get a loaner as well, even if it is for just a few hours. When I blew out a tire last week, I showed up unannounced at Schumacher European MB and had a new C-Class in minutes. The dealership has an Enterprise Rental "built-in" to the service area. The wife (drives the ML350) and I have received a loaner for every and all service.

At Atlanta Classic Cars any service that is over 2 hours and I get a C class loaner straight away. If < 2 I go see my buddy Reggie and take something for a test drive, last time was the new E class.

Ok now I'm upset :P I don't have anyone to drive to the dealer after being stuck in the house since Monday. I got hot dates tonight and tomorrow night and I need the car. And they don't know wether the car is ready or not because my agent is one of the evening guys and he gets in after 12. I someone that could take me at 11.

Our local dealer in Oklahoma City will give a loaner if the repairs take over two hours AND if the car being serviced was purchased from that dealer. As we have two drivers in the family and four vehicles, loaners aren't really an issue for us. Especially as the local dealer provides a prompt courtesy shuttle for me to my home, and back to pick up the car.

But I do think a lux line like Mercedes needs a uniform policy on loaners -- and a very liberal one at that.

Here what my dealer would do in here South Texas(since is the only one), if you didn't buy the cars from them, you'll pay for your owe a loaner at full price, but on the other hand, like my dad's CLS550 bought it over there, he gets his loaner free of charge, but myself and my co-workers who did not buy cars from them, we have to pay for a loaner. And my co-worker got really really mad, i understand is not really the money issue for her, it just the service, she told me, she paid her's SL600 for over $140.000.00, and as a Mercedes-Benz can't even offer this service for free, how stupid is that, therefore, every since, every single service of her car, she just drives three hours to San Antonio dealer, according what she told me, in San Antiono dealer, she get a loaner for half of the charge only, in the way, Lexus is much better, everytime my wife and I went for a service for her ES350 in San Antonio Lexus dealer, they always ready a clean loaner for us free of charge, and on top of that, any minor dent or hits or any scratch, we don't have to responsible for anything, not to mentions, they'll put a 24 pack bottles of water(not beer tho) in your trunk on the way home. I remember one time, when we got there, we were just so tried of driving a 3 hours ride, we just wanted wait for the service to be done, but they insist for us to go somewhere drive around instead of waiting.

One other thing, I just thought, it is because this is the only dealer in South Texas, therefore, no free loaner services????? or they just have bad services? Did you all buy your cars in the same dealers in order to get a FREE LOANER?? I really want to find out, coz I am about to be get my service A soon. One other question, my car has only 7800 miles on it, and the computer dash board said service A needs at around 8200 miles,, too soon for an oil change right??? Or Do i still go and get it done??

I believe the official policy for MB USA is the dealer is suppose to provide "alternate transportation" back to your home or office for scheduled service. Some dealers offer a loaner program, for which they get subsidized loaner cars from MBUSA, which later can feed into the dealers CPO cars for sale. Other dealers may offer you only a ride back to your home or office in a shuttle, or pay for a cab etc. They are not required to provide you a ride to their dealership though.

I've gotten a drive home once from our dealer and what the kid said driving me was that if you bought the car from them they would come out and pick the car up and drop it off for you (sure the dude would love driving the 55). If you didn't buy it from them they'll still give you a ride home (but I don't think they would come pick you up again).

The dealer here will give a free loaner (C Class) if they will have your car for more than 5 hours, regardless if you bought it from them or not.
Last time I got a C300 with 400 +miles on the odometer.

At my local NE England dealer I get them to pick up the car and drop it off afterwards. Saves any messing around with getting there and back.

Although when I bought my C200 and had it towed away for leaking oil after 24 hours I got a loaner with 129 miles on the clock and kept it for the next two weeks putting 1000+ miles on the odometer. Which was nice.
