Are these parts needed?

Are these items necessary if only installing bluetooth in a car with Phone Pre-Wiring all set up? I was under the impression these were for using the car's antenna, but bluetooth won't need this, right?

Does the phone pre-wiring include the Control Module, MHI?

Vehicle Core Installation Kit BQ 682 0965
1 Kit, hardware
1 Linear compensator, dual band
1 Control Module, MHI

SLK-Class Vehicle Completer Kit BQ 682 0964
1 Bracket, linear compensator
1 Bracket, MHI control module/antenna switch
1 Antenna switch with FAKRA connections
1 Contact plate
1 Cable, MOST adapter

Thanks,
Todd

Hi ToddieDC....

I didn't put in the Linear Compensator when I did mine, as it doesn't do much with Bluetooth. You do need the control module.

The rest looks about right. You might want to read through the installation procedure. (courtesy of billsden.)

Don't need the compensator, the mount hardware for the compensator or the antenna switch if you don't plan on using the car's antenna.

Thanks for the info!

Looks like BQ682 0965 is $110 and BQ682 0964 is $160. I already bought the BQ6 787 5878 on eBay for $300.

they quoted me 4 hours of labor, so I think I'll go ahead and have Mercedes do the install.

Done and done!

Todd

Can anyone please assist me with the current part numbers (and if possible prices/non M-B sources) of the Vehicle Core Installation Kit and SLK-Class Vehicle Completer Kit for my 2007 SLK55 AMG?

Also, I am assuming that the MHI Control Module contains the Bluetooth adapter. Is this correct? And is it still recommended to install the Linear Compensator, even if Bluetooth will be used?

Thanks!

Spook,
First - the MHI control module does not include the Bluetooth Puck - separate item. No - if Bluetooth is used you don't need the linear compensator.

I would call Keith Valentine Cellular (cellguy85 on eBay) for a quote. IIRC you will need the following:
- The MHI Module - mounts in the trunk - get a mounting bracket if you can find one.
- a short Most loop & Connector - connects the MHI module into the MOST network.
- The puck wiring harness for the center console - Where the Bluetooth puck plugs in.
- The Bluetooth Puck
- The Teleaid microphone adapter - small wiring harness that goes in the trunk and lets your Teleaid mic serve as a BT microphone. (If you already have the dual mics in your OHC then I would use them, as the Teleaid mic is not that great of a microphone in my car - doesn't deliver that great of a sound.)

Here's a thread on the installation.
