A interesting G wagon convertable came into the shop

A customer dropped off a black 2 door Mercedes g wagon that was a convertible. power top in fact. I am guessing it was something that is sorta rare, since I have never seen one and due to the fact there was a plate on the dash stating that the American Vin was stamped on the chassis. and had a point of import stamped on it. just a simple radar detector problem. anyone ever seen one?

Yeah, they are pretty rare - a lot like the Land Rover D90 Convertibles.

Sorry - should have been clearer! :-) ROW is fine, but finding one in the States is a painful and expensive chore.

The attraction to the G still baffles me. No offense to anyone. Just seems like a lot of money for a box.

They are so damn old, I had a neighbor that imported them since the 70's. Just like Jag's XJ, SUDDENLY IT'S 1974!

I'd rather have a Gremlin X.

It's a crate with no roof! Buy a Scion Xb and a saws-all! LOL!

Completely respectable opinion.

For me, I typically hate all SUVs.

However, I do not hate the G. For one, it is a true off road capable machine and I think the design is simply classic looking and could never be improved.
