slk230 and regular gas

hello everyone,
just wondering if anyone here has a 1999-2003 slk230 and have tried running it with regular gas? Any luck? I really don't want to be spending the extra 10cents a liter for premium if i don't have to. thanks
i'm in canada,
gio

per the 2003 users manual:

Use only premium unleaded gasoline with a minimum posted octane rating of 91 (avg of 96 ron/86mon)

HBK is not qualified to make that call, and neither is a dealer.

gio, Follow the manual, engine management will protect itself if you use a lower grade (to a point) but the manual is telling you what the map is based on and just because it can protect itself, it does not mean you should consider it a normal function.
