Just got clearance for exporting funds to complete my deal on my 55 AMG.
(Greece has a very strict capital control policy and sending money abroad is an almost impossible procedure nowadays, -the maximum weekly cash withdrawal amount from the Banks is 420 euros per person)
I thought that it would be easier as I am a foreigner in the country, but there is no exception to the law.
Anyway, all went well, so I am on my way to Germany to collect the "beast"
Its a certified 2012 AMG with all the extras I wanted and I think it looks stunning.
So here is my plan.
Plane to Germany, one night in Munich.
One day to complete the tansaction and another two to issue Zoll (export) licence with duration of one month.
This way the car will have insurance for the journey and can travel at all EU countries for one month.
Still have to figure if I will need winter tyres or not, as I plan to return through Italy and from there travel by ship to Greece (Germany to Ancona Italy is about 800km far and then you just embark on the ship, arrive at Patras Greece and within two hours you reach Athens)
Alternative route would be through Austria, Croatia, Bosnia, Servia, FYROM, and then Athens, a total of 2.500 hard kilometers through the Balkan mountains.
So my route will have a first stop at Insbruck and from there to Italy with the plan to visit Verona, Parma, Modena, Rimini and Ancona.
Alternative route could be trough the Stelvio Pass and then Brescia and Bologna but I do not feel very confident about this as the weather could ruin all my plans.
Anyways, this trip will start next Saturday and I would appreciate all advise regarding tyres (my main concern) and other tips regarding anything.
Thanks for reading.
