1994 Mustang

On my way back from getting my windshield replaced
coming south down 2 lane Kings Avenue
Mustang turning south into my lane and then moves over when he heard/saw me coming.
I goose it as I pass him
Long hair hippie ( )
His car for a 94 had dual pipes and had sound (speed to be determined shortly)
I stay in my lane for 2 left turn lanes at upcoming light
but he stays in right lane for right turn
He passes me and revs it so I say to meself, self, you don't want to go left, but right
he takes the right turn lane and I am on him like hair on a gorilla and take the left lane west as he stays in the right lane and he floors it or whatever he was attempting to do
I'm already past the apex of the turn so I do my thing and I am off!
I glance to my right to see him attempting to shift but again, I am gone
I slow down down the road and he gives me the thumbs up and slinks off into the distance.
I u-turn and head home to clean the Beast and its new windshield

I thought that only the French had horse on the menu

Jeff, your appetite for ponies is alarming. No wonder they circle your house, they must fear for the survival of the species.

Jeff if looking for Mustangs you need to be in Myrtle Beach this week as it is Mustang week, there are thousands of them here. They will fill up one side of a mall parking lot for a show this week end.

see video of a careful Mustang driver.

Mustangs

What is it about Mustangs? I see this too but not to the extent that you do Jeff. Keep slaying them. I have a long winded theory:

The Mustang owner of today is like the Harley owners of the early 1970's when the Kawi 900 and later Kz1000 superbikes first arrived on our shores. Harley riders had been king of the hill for so long, smoking all Triumph, Norton and BSA riders and all BMW owners to come along. There were exceptions but not many. The Harley sounded fast, and was loud and looked the part. But when a bike with real power arrived, it was no match. But it took about 10 years for the masses to become educated. During that time, we took our lightly modded Kawi's from one Harley hang out to the next goading them into a drag race for $$$. Needless to say, we never lost

The stereo typical "Stang" owner was attracted by the loud exhaust note of the GT and the torquey power delivery that enables tire shredding launches when the TC is turned off, plus the classic pony car styling that screams "I am fast". Now the really powerful Cobra owner knew that the GT really did not have that much Oooomph so he ponied up (Ford terminology) for the supercharged Shelby which is heavier and very powerful but unless it is on really good pavement or a treated drag strip it struggles to put its power to the ground. Thus the real world launch from these pony cars is often not nearly as potent as its Motor Trend data and spec sheet would lead one to believe. Any real drag racer knows that if you win the 60ft race due to good reactions and/or great launch response, you have a huge advantage and on the typical short and slow street light drags that rarely go past 3rd gear, our cars are supremely capable. thus a less powerful and sometimes heavier SLK can smoke a more powerful car. It is great fun, yes?

My everyday go to work car is a Mousetang convertible just about like that and I have to agree, it is not much of a car. I rescued it from my youngest daughter when she left for Pharmacy school and am attempting to wear it out commuting to work. It is slow, uncomfortable, and hard to get in and out of. Despite being a V6 and having no power, my SLK55 V8 gets much better gas mileage. But, I will squeeze all the life out of it I can over the next year or two before I replace it with some other POS.

Don't car owners, particularly Mustangs, know about gear ratios?

Lose top end speed and go for acceleration.

One change to 60 means you still have good initial oomf for quick start,
then use second to gear to 60mph.

Bikers were well up on this, pre 'chipping' days.

Rally lads too.

One lad had an old ford escort van, only did 50mphish top speed.
O-30 mph acceleration was into biker turf.

Maybe 'Stangs come to Jeff because he's a secret horse whisperer?

OI! Nothing wrong with *some* BMW drivers you know. At least, those BMW drivers who know how to use the indicators properly.....

And I tried to get a Dodge Charger one year as a rental in the States. They'd 'run out' when I got there (surprise surprise) and I got this instead:
PoS.jpg
Never been so unimpressed with a car before. 13,000 miles on it and the interior was already falling apart; the fuel cap wouldn't close properly; soft sloppy ride....

Well that would explain the BMW Thing...... Wait a minute how did we get from Mustangs to Bimmers????

A leaked document has revealed that the bumhattery of BMW drivers may be more than coincidence. Failing to use turn signals, cutting off other drivers, tailgating, flipping the bird and other affronts to road civility have become indelibly associated with the Bavarian Marque. Why? According to the document, it's all part of a totally illegal customer loyalty scheme.

This template document, issued to all BMW dealers (click the image below to expand), comes to us from an anonymous informant known only as "The Whistleblower." It clearly outlines a list of driving behaviors, recorded on the black boxes that have been standard on all new BMWs for several years now and translated into points.

Accumulated points can then be traded for the kind of fabulous prizes middle management Bimmer drivers most covet, such as anger management classes and male botox injections.
