A kill story for my Smart car!

Here's a little background.

I often joke about my smartcar as it provokes emotion in just about everyone. People either love it or hate it... I think most hate it. The common trait I see in driver's around my Smartcar is that there are very few people that will actually let me pass them.... I mean almost NOONE. If I'm trying to pass or happen to roll through a set of lights that just turned green the other person will almost always gun it to keep me from passing them....

Today I took a long drive out to Ft. McMurray. For those Albertans out there...yes...I did it...in a smartcar...and survived!!

On the way back when I got into Ft. Saskatchewan where highway 15 opens up into double lane I ended up pulling out and attempted to pass an "18 wheeler" I was following. As I pulled out in the double lane I noticed the black smoke from the gear change and noticed I was no longer passing him....a challenge I see . We ended up slowing down for the set of lights near Scotford as they turned red. He geared down pretty quick so I was leading and would end up tripping the lights and sitting at the red light.... this way he rolls through the intersection while I have to gear up from a stand still.

So I pull up to the lights and he's slowly rolling in. I can see the lights changing and sense he's gonna gun it. As the light goes green he starts to accelerate and I pin it (remember.... pinning it in a Smartcar is ...uhhh...not really a thrill...comparable to taking off on a tricycle really ).

He passes by me a little and I manage to catch up and pass him at about the 50 km/h mark. I gun it up to 100km/h and have about 6 or 7 car lengths on him and hold it at 100 in the left lane.....

Like clockwork the driver just couldn't accept he got beat by a Smartcar and keeps going and passes me. Fortunately the highway slows down to a 70 zone and he slowed down.... and as luck would have it the next set of lights went red and we both ended up side by side.

I couldn't look up into his cab and see him, but I sat there and started to rev the engine..... LOL.... ok... picture a Smartcar at a set of lights with a Semi revving to race. The ULTIMATE pathetic. I doubt the driver even heard me revving.

So with my super-spectacular racing skill (no...not really... but I know a few things about launching a smart car) I take off from the lights with full acceleration using my paddle shifters for full effect (yes, the Smartar comes with a paddle shifter option) I blow the doors off this truck and he gets stuck behind a whole bunch of traffic.

We both drove through Ft. Saskatchwan. When we got south of the city in the double lane he ended up working his way through traffic and passed me. As he passed he honked his air horn twice. Not sure if it was a honk of comradery or hatred, but I'll pick the first one.

As I said before people just can't let a Smartcar pass them

Interesting "kill" story about a Semi Truck vs a Smart Car but very humorous and I enjoyed the read. Thankyou!

Maybe one day a Smart will rev to my SLK... hehe every once in awhile I get the civics roll up beside me and rev their engines but most of the time I let them take off and just slowly accelerate
