315 or 433MHz?

Does anyone know if the key for my 2006 350 is 315MHz or 433MHz?

I understand they are predominantly 315MHz in USA and 433MHz in EU. However I'm in Australia!

Thx.

Hi Touring Steve,
It all depends on which market your SLK was built for. If it is A vehicle built for USA or Australia it will be 315MHz but if it has been imported from Europe there is a chance it could be 433MHZ. I say chance because that sort of issue is supposed to be corrected when the vehicle is examined on import. It is actually illegal to operate a car alarm on an unapproved frequency in Australia.
I hope this helps. Unfortunately I can't tell you where to look for that info in the car.

How do you like Bowral? It's a lovely little spot with a great cricket museum commemorating Don Bradman. If you are American that probably won't mean much to you, but it means a lot to Brits and Aussies. I lived "just down the road" in Canberra for four years and went through Bowral several times, I hope you are enjoying your time there.

Cheers

Hi Gromit3528,

It appears to be a built for the local market car and not a private or UK import .. at least according to the VIN plates, dealer info and options card. Thank for your input!

Yes I'm a happy 'New Yorker Down Under' living in Bowral not far from the Bradman Oval / museum in fact, I drive by it daily on my way to Bong Bong Street to serve my caffeine addiction in one of the great cafes here and no, I'm not kidding for those who have never been here... the main street in Bowral is named Bong Bong St!

I like to think of Don Bradman as the Babe Ruth of the antipodes! Too bad he didn't play baseball 'The Boy from Bowral' might have made enough money to afford to buy a home now in the town he helped make famous!

I get to Canberra on business often too as it is just a dawdle down the road made even more enjoyable on those 'SLK days' with top down and Stereo blasting! Takes me less than 2 hours to do 170km or approximately the same time to drive 20 miles in rush hour Manhattan!

Thank again 'mate'!
