SLK55 Black Series Brakes vs STD SLK55

Hi Dan.
I will be replacing the front discs and pads on my 2005 SLK55.
These are currently the STD 340mm.
Can I simply replace them with the 360mm discs/pads from the Black Series/Performance package whilst retaining the same calipers?
Do I need to order other parts as well?
Also do you know the approximate price difference between the 360mm discs/pads and the STD 340mm discs/pads?
Would there be an advantage in steel brake hoses?
Thanks in advance!

Hey mate,

I replaced the disks on mine without any problems that being said the EPC does show a different caliper for the performance pack and some dealers might be reluctant to order the parts with that showing.

You don't need any other parts just the disk and pads, the pads by the way are now the same for all 171AMG's with/without the performance pack or black series kit so you just have the one pad to pick.

Not aware of the difference in price sorry mate i will have to look it up.

You will get an advantage using steel hoses mate yeah for sure there is not a doubt in my mind.

I have a full ceramic composite setup on the Brabus its certainly a considerable improvement over the stock system thats hardly lacking in any department.

Does increase the cooling needs however and replacement wear and tear parts cost more but that is offset by the increase time between service, apart from the brake fluid that gets cooked often.

The SLK is not really the best car for a full system to be installed on and i had to make many mods to make it compatible not sure how the pads alone would react.

I had the performance pack brakes installed before the car was converted the new brakes where installed at that time.
