Since my post 6 months ago “Brooklands UK and New SLK query, looking for some advice”, I’ve done quite a lot of searching and driving. Currently have an SLK250 diesel, my first Mercedes and I love it, however not doing the mileage with my job, averaging 5k a year, so looking to go back to petrol. My options (in order) SLK55, SLC43, SLK300 and outsider SL400, and was in a dilemma with my choices for all sorts of various reasons, but after Brooklands the SLK55 is favourite. I was so impressed with the whole package, even preferred it to the SL63 if I’m honest. Not dissing any of the other cars, they’re all good, but I really see what you Guys on here with 55s are on about now ;-)

In these 6 months whilst looking for a 55 and having missed one, I’ve driven the SLK300 (nice, not enough power), SL400 (always wanted one but not for me), BMW M4 (coz my mate said I should try it, nice but not for me) and F-Type Jag (lovely looks and sound, that’s about it, hated everything else). Only last week I managed to drive the SLC43, and whilst it was nice, not sure it’s for me, there was something missing and I'm not sure I like the cosmetic changes albeit slight. It looks no different to the SLC200 or any other model. Also I expected more in all honesty, acceleration/handling was ok, exhaust notes were nice, but sounded a little false just like the F-Type.

I would have been ordering an SLC43, but glad I drove it first, as now I know I wouldn’t have been happy after driving the 55. But I think I’ve found a 55, not the spec I wanted, but beggars can’t be choosers, and I think I can live with black just because of the other benefits. I love black, probably the best colour on a car, but I’ve got OCD when it comes to clean vehicles, so will be detailing quite a lot, and it will be a pleasure. It’s an April 2016 registered car, yes 2016, at a very good price, and not too far away from me, with a good spec and nearly 3 years warranty and 400 miles on the clock. Hopefully picking it up on Friday, will post some photos if it next weekend, I literally want to go to bed tonight and wake up Friday.

Is there any chance you could get me the datacard with the UK registration number, or do I have to wait to get the VIN number??

You're just a little excited...Friday you'll be grinning from ear to ear:grin:when you take the long way home, maybe through a tunnel or two, floor it up a hill, take the bends tight and listen to it roar...OMG I just smacked myself right out of that daydream.

I can't wait to see pix!

Congratulations!

Welcome to the dark side!

We like to keep the joys of 55 ownership quiet.
Well, quiet until we hit open road, or a tunnel!

Then we like to make some noise.
And then shut the throttle and listen to the burble as she comes back down the box.

An addiction that is legal AND rewarding.

Look forward to the pics.

I've only gone and done it.......

....well I turned up at the dealership, prepared to buy but wanted to see the car as I'd only seen a video and picture. The did it right, car under a cover, talked a bit, then pulled the cover off. Showed me around, invited me to sit in the drivers seat, then start it. Where do I sign. There was no way I was walking away from this, n an opportunity to but probably one of the last 2016 registered V8s. Had a nice drive home, and a couple of local spins before the Football this evening. What a day its been for me, pick up my SLK55, and Wales beat Belgium!!

Heres some quick photos, its rained when I got it home, first wash tomorrow morning. Will post more.....

btw, can you search for history of the engine builder?

Wow - that's some motor, good luck with it.

Yes, Wales beat Belgium in the footie but I see your heart lies with Welsh Rugby - it says so on your number plate.

Thought so, it was in the showroom a while back, I thought it was strange them having it with the SLC out, I was told it was due to a customer ordering then cancelling the order. Great for you though! Not bad having one of the last, if not the last SLK55s!

Enjoy :tu:
