Good Buy?

Hello All, I'm thinking of buying an SLK AMG. Does this look like a good buy?
Approved Used 2005 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG for sale

scully,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your vehicle (model and year)(when u get one) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘vehicle’.

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response. Be patient and a knowledgeable member will address your question.

If you wish to become PM (Private Message)- capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.

New members and guests should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under quick links when you leave.

Also vote or enter our Ride of the Month competition: ROTM Submissions & Voting - Mercedes Benz SLK World Forum

price sounds about right...we have Carfax here, a service that can tell you if there have been any accidents etc...do you have something similar you can check? want to make sure there have been no major repairs, body work etc...if you get the car you'll love it, they are great fun...

Scully

Check the service carefully - it should have had the spark plugs changed at 5 years and there are 16 of them so its not cheap - also should have a transmission service at 48k miles again not cheap

Use these as bargaining points - otherwise looks nice - you will enjoy it

I aree with the above. You can also carefully examine the interior of the car. It tells a lot about the owner of the car and in general, how depreciated the car really is.

Thanks for your help everybody, the car is at an approved used mercedes dealer so comes with a 1 year warranty and everything is checked and put right prior to the sale. The transmission fluid was changed late 2011 and the dealership changed all of the spark plugs following their inspection.

I went ahead and bought it!

The reason they are selling it so cheap is someone put the steering wheel on the wrong side, Haha. Seriously, looks like a good buy to me. Just make sure the required maintenance has been performed.

Nice looking AMG. I've had mine a week today (2005 AMG) and I'm loving every minute of it. Enjoy.

I finally got the car (I say finally but it wasn't exactly a long wait!). So far so good and the power is incredible, the fuel economy is less incredible....

I was also surprised to find a perspex wind deflector in the boot as well

The only trouble is that we've had almost a week of glorious weather here in the UK and today of all days it started chucking it down, oh well, let's hope the weather picks up for the Queens Jubilee 4-day weekend from Saturday.

This is my first "Fast" car and it's a strange experience, i'm actually driving slower in this than I do in my Land Rover, but it's all about knowing the power is there if I need it. Also, thank goodness for the Speed Limiter, I imagine that little stork will save me from a fair few speeding tickets.

I suggest you join the Sheep chase this coming weekend (check out the UK section).
