Question Identifying Performance Package

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased a 2009 SLK55 AMG with 10,000 on the clock. I'm trying to determine if I have the performance package. What is the easiest way to determine for sure. I have the carbon fiber interior, the flat bottom steering wheel and the wheels that are correct for the performance package. I don't think I'm brave enough to see if I'm speed limited at 155.

I'm loving the car so far! I sold my 2003, 50th anniversary edition corvette convertible to buy the SLK.

Any help would be appreciated.

Two easy ways - first, post up your VIN, and we'll pull the factory data card for ya. Second, take a look at your front brakes - if they have 6 pot calipers and 360mm rotors, you have the performance pack!

(oh, and welcome to the forum from London via Houston, Tx!)

Question My VIN- A little help please.

My VIN number is WDBWK73F19F191207. I'd like to know if I have the performance package and any other options that can be determined from the VIN.

Thanks!

Very nice car, and yes you have the P30 performance package! Here's your datacard.

Smile Happy!

This makes me very happy! Thanks for the VIN check. I'm very happy with the car. I'm working on removing swirls and a few light scratches from the paint.

One thing I'm not overly excited about is that the car has the Stoneguard. Not sure how to care for that and I'm afraid if I remove it, the paint my not match. I'll probably leave it on and learn to love it. Just need to remove the wax buildup on the edges.

Aggressive downshifting from the 7-speed automatic

One other thing that is different for me is the aggressive downshifting. Makes it hard to come to a smooth stop. It tends to use a lot of motor braking with a bit of a rough shift from 4th to 3rd in comfort mode.

I'm used to letting off the accelerator and coasting up to a stop sign with only wheel braking.

One thing to remember is that the 7g gearbox is adaptive, and will learn your driving style.

I have to admit, I rarely drive in "C" - I'm 99% of the time in "S", and maybe 1% in "M". If I'm stepping on it to slow down, I do really notice the engine braking, but rarely have a problem with "smooth" stops..

If your car is still under warranty, I'd pop by the dealers, tell them you are having rough downshifts, and get them to check it out. There was at least one TCU software update in late 09 or early 10 that would probably help out.

Warranty

I bought a 5 year extended warranty so I'll have the shifting checked out next time I'm at the dealer. It doesn't seem to be a big deal and I'm sure I'll get used to the downshifting... Or it'll get used to me.

The bigger the size of the rotor the higher its performance. You need to stop pretty quick somehow!
