What mod's first?

Okay, so I've got a little cash...well, that's really pretty much all the time...LITTLE cash. Anyway, I've been researching performance mod's on this and other forums and I'm formulating a long range plan for various mods....
  • Cold Air Intake
  • SC Pulley upgrade and tune
  • Crank pulley and related idler/tensioners
  • Isolate/upgrade SC cooler system
  • Drop a biturbo v12 in it

What is the groups consensus on which one to do first? I'd of course like the most bang for the buck. I'm thinking CAI simply because it's fairly cheap, adds a few ponies and makes the engine sound meaner (yeah, I know, sound isn't a performance issue, but sometimes you just gotta sing!)

Krazy (320Dreamer) will be the one to ask as he has done most of them.

I would definitely suggest the NeedsWings Dual CAI as it increase HP by a substantial amount (dyno'd). That's honestly all I have done and I have been happy. If I upgrade anything else, I would get the Supercooler.

cai, pulley (either sc or crank both need the needswings psk), ecu tune are first three!
after that: catch can, separated cooling, new ic pump, ported & coated intake manifolds/y pipe, lsd. Still much more after that too.
only limit is cash

bruco1,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your location in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’. And it only takes about 30 seconds to do!

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member or guest will address your question.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message)- capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
New members and guests should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.

Depends what you want???
V.nks as a student(which he still is)won car of the month with fab mods & on a budget. His car is beautiful. So, Horse power or looks? you did say' other Mods'
HP, I cant advise. If its looks, then slk world is am Emporium of information & endless opportunities.
If the Budgets tight, then feel great in the car you drive; rather than be faster in the car your never quite happy with.

Pulley + ECU. That is your biggest bang for buck. CAI is minor or nothing according to Renntech. Next would be cams...

I will disagree on CAI being worthless. Rob @ Needswings has dyno AND 1/4 mile slips with just a CAI and it is a remarkable difference. Then again if it is a poor CAI design that would explain Renntech's thoughts...
