Interested In Getting Into A SLK55 AMG

I finally got myself to think about buying a SLK55 AMG, I had one for a week a while back and it left a impression on me. I'm thinking of getting a 2006 with under 55k mileage.

I have some questions though,

1. What are the optioned differences between the 2006, 07,08?
2. Anything to keep a eye out on when looking at the car?
3. Any major chronic issues with the SLK55 that I should be aware of?
B/C I have a 2005 CL600 and the ABC system can just jump off a cliff....

I know there are performance upgrades for this car out there, anyone have a good idea what area to upgrade first, I'm thinking of at least doing a ECU, and bigger manifolds on the car. but later on maybe the supercharger.


Any help would be awesome, and thanks for your time.

05/06/07's are pretty much the same, but late 2007 models had downgraded brakes. The car's are pretty bulletproof, about the only problem common to 'em all is the weeping cylinder heads that's just an M113 thing. Easily sorted.

Loads of threads on "things to watch out for" when purchasing - so, use the search and get more than I can remember!


Performance wise, I'd add a Quaife LSD first, then look at ECU and headers. Supercharger's are falling in price since the M113 has gone out of production, so are a more viable option these days.

Thanks alot, I will looking to that section. when do SLk get the paddle shifters? I don't recall the one I had for a week had one. And the SLK55 does not come with LSD? or just a really iffy AMG version of LSD?

The performance package comes with the LSD. I totally agree with UK-C200. I recently had the Quaife installed and it makes a world of difference in the feel of the car. Particularly in the wet!

Contrary to popular belief, the SLK P30 package never included an LSD. But I agree, the Quaife rocks! :-)
