Clear coat cracks on left rear pillar

The plastic section of the retractable roof touching the rear glass behind the [US] driver has what appears to be chipping clear coat. MY best guess is that the section was under stress while retracted or was stored (retracted) for an extended period of time while wet.

Can anyone provide any further insight into what potentially caused the damage? Any insight as to cost of repair and ease of performing the repair work myself would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

Do a search on rear window side panels or pillars. Known issue on the clear coat delaminating. Couple of threads on it about DIY repair or applying aftermarket products like 3M Di-Noc.

Thanks the info. I found the old threads.

I like the idea of CF, but I feel like replacing the pillars without also replacing the spoiler, diffusers, etc... will throw off the lines.
