Engine oil leaks.....help.

Went for Warrant of Fitness for my SLK 55. Nearly failed because of engine oil leaks. I service the car about 6 months ago with MB, before that nothing but after service this happen. That is why sometimes i can smell burning oil when i took it out for a run. But after the engine is heated up, nothing. Is there anything i can fix it. A couple of weeks ago, one of our member, Journeyman, reckon it is an easy fix.
Can anyone help. My friends SLK 350 leaks and now mine. How horrible,

Way different cars and engines than mine but . . . I've got 132k miles on mine and the engine's rear main has been leaking for a while; but typically only a quart/liter every 3k miles and no burning and no puddles under the car. (Since it only comes out when running . . . I can live with that compared to the cost of replacing that particular seal!) Then there also seems to be a weak spot with the oil seals on the cam position sensor, mine seems to fail every 20-30k miles or so. (Which I have an issue with now!) Typically I also don't see a puddle or smell/see any oil burning, but it does tend to spray the oil around a bit more . . . but again, only when running, and not enough in one place to casually see from the outside!)

Just wondering if your engine might use the same/similar sensor/seal, but in a different position which lets the oil get onto an exhaust. Replacement for me is about $250-300 at the shop. (Since I don't have a garage, I don't so those kinds of things myself.)

Just a thought, or some possibilities you might be able to take off the list.

Had a good look at the engine from the top. The top part of the engine had oil stain on it around the last two gasket so as around the serpentine belt pulley. Don't know how long it has been there but the tray under the engine IS wet and i just notice a drip of oil on the floor. What looks like an oil FLOW mark running all the down from the engine oil cap. Can the cap be loose?
No lost of power though.

Worry worry worry....

No need for a garage to replace the camshaft sensor. It's located in the back of the engine and accessible from the top. Just watch your hands on the heat shield. I took a good chunk of skin off my knuckles.

AS Master Sarge stated: known issue of weeping from cylinder head cover gaskets on each bank going bad, in addition to the breather cover on the left bank towards the rear. The gasket around the oil filter cover may need to be replaced and torqued properly (not too tight, 25 nM).

Thanks Eddy.
Known issue, eih? So where do i buy conventional CORK gasket from? In U-tube it shows that MB used LIQUID gasket on AMG engine. You are right. With liquid gasket you can't tighten it too tight, but 25nM is only hand tight, no wonder the thing leaks,
Would be exciting to open the top cylinder cover to have a peek and satisfying to fix this leak.
Anyone has any advise?

Mine was fixed under warranty in the first 2-3 years of ownership.

IIRC, the indy states they can do the repair.
