I agree with Woolly and Sean , even if you choose the wrong canbus socket , you'll just get a message on the MFD saying something isn't right ( I've actually tried this ) which once reverted goes away , you can't harm the system this way !
If we were talking about a R170 , I might understand his reserves , but the R171 is about as simple as it gets , the hardest parts being getting the carpet out of the way , opening the wire trunking cover and managing to get the cover off the canbus connector strip !
