Hi All & Sundry:
My name is Howard and I am embarrassed to say that I actually signed up some time ago Quite stupidly I have managed for an extended period of time to remain pretty much oblivious to the repeated more than kind invitations and encouragements to edit my profile and actually post an introductory message. This is the beginning of my effort to correct this gross error. I found this forum during my research regarding the SLK; I have been looking for the right one for me for over a year. I finally found it late last fall as its then current owner was putting it in storage for the winter (I live in Ottawa, Canada and our winters are pretty formidable). It is a 2008 black on black SLK 55 AMG with 64,000 KM (roughly 40,000 miles). We agreed to revisit matters as winter was receding (now-ish) and have just concluded a deal for it. The previous owner was very much a car guy (multiple Mercedes, Corvettes, Lexus products over the years - of course I'm a bit envious) and this was his baby. Best of everything, garaged, never saw winter, almost never saw rain, no accidents, full records and totally clean CarProof. The previous owner bought it as he was coming within hailing distance of geezerhood - much like myself I'm sorry to say - and I don't think it has ever been ridden hard. I'm sure almost all of you have had the experience of some seller describing a vehicle as "mint" and to find the description to be most charitably characterized as "optimistic". This is the first used vehicle that I have ever seen that meets what I would consider the true definition of "mint". It looks like it was in the dealer's showroom new about 5 minutes ago. In any event, thanks for listening to my go at an introduction.
Best Regards,
Howard
