I've been in communication with Escort Radar and they are open to and interested in putting together a group buy. We wanted to see what kind of interest there may be. I'm sure it all depends on the discount, but assuming a reasonable discount would you be interested in one of the items above. If 'other' please post up what you are looking for.

Thanks!

:)Virginia and the District of Columbia are the two locations in the USA where radar detectors are illegal. Connecticut repealed their ban back in the late 1990s. Doesn't matter, I'm older now and more laid back when driving. I've only had a few speeding tickets in my life.

Right now I'm trying to do a poll to see which unit has the most demand for it. Then Escort was going to try to put together a group buy on the most popular models for us. I'm not sure which unit you are referring to at a price point of under $200. I'm thinking maybe they would give a 20% or so discount. This is still in the works at the moment.

A 9500ix at $400 is 20% off and I am in for one if the deal can be finalized.

ANY OTHER TAKERS???????????????????????

My last ticket was $250, so avoiding one more ticket means the unit only cost me $150 and the price goes down with every other ticket avoided.

I am interested in getting one in the near future... how hard would it be to install it in my current SLK then move to a different one?
I am considering purchasing a new car this year and if its difficult to move the unit from one car to another then I would want to wait - otherwise I wouldn't mind playing around with it now.

Red Line Detector

I selected other in the poll. After speaking with the Escort Tech Rep the Red Line would work best for me. It has the longest range and detects the lowest signal strength emissions. The Red Line is also invisible to detector detectors (sounds redundant) which are used by highway patrol cars in states where commercial vehicles are prohibited from using detectors. Be advised that cops do use them to spot light "nere do wells" in fast sports cars.

The 9500ix and its brothers data log traffic cam and red light cam locations with GPS, but I don't speed in towns or conjested areas.....don't run redlights as a practice.

I'm looking for the best protection in rural high speed cruising applications.

The ability of the IX to phase out false signals in town using GPS is a God Sent in major cities. In Dallas and Houston (where I send most of my time) 90% of the traffic is on freeways or toll roads crisscrossing the city where such false signals are a real distraction.

I wanted to bring this up again as I think I may have an opportunity for SLKWorld forum members who are interested in purchasing an Escort product and get a discount. If you are interested still please send me a PM with the model(s) you're interested in and the best way to contact you. I will compile and I 'think' this should work out over the next 30 days.

Thanks

Escort/Passport...pfft.....The Valentine1 smokes em both imo and is the best that money can buy. I was in Fort Worth a few years ago and a Dodge Viper group drive came through the city when I was out walking to lunch and I stood on the street corner for 30 minutes as Viper after Viper came through. It was so awesome a sight and I noticed that almost every Viper I saw had a V1 in the windsheild.

One of the biggest benefits of the V1 is that it has arrows and tells you where the signal is coming from.

I'd talk with Mike Valentine and see if he would do a group buy.

As far as laser jammers I had the original Blinder but now running the K40 Laser Defuser front and rear with the lights integrated into my rear view mirror.

Here's a few links:
Don't know about the other jammers.

And here's a nice honest writeup comparison of the V1 vs 9500ix

The GPS in the escort extremely outweighs the relatively useless arrows on the V1. Virtually eliminates false signals, and in major cities the red light camera database is a $460 per ticket lifesaver. The detection on the V1 is great though but as for useful extra features, it is behind the times.

I'm interested in purchasing the 9500ix....regular retail is about $500. I've not found them for less anywhere. Escort has a trade in program which is good for $80. Any make/model will work for a trade, so it would sure sweeten the deal if they would honor that too. Also, they have a new suction cup mount which I'm sure everyone would want...it is far superior to the old stlye twin cup mount which does not work well on steeply sloped windsheilds.

Amazon has it for $455 w/ free shipping. No trade-in of course.

Or go to Bing Cashback search for escort passport 9500ix and you can get it from Buy.com for $432.

This is all if the group buy doesn't work out. :)

Edit: Not sure why the amazon link displays like that. Weird.
