I have a few parts for sale from my 2007 SLK280. I have only put 3000 miles on the car, so the parts are fairly new. I decided to upgrade to an Eclipse navigation head unit and I replaced the cup holder and ash tray with storage compartments. I never used those, so I decided to replace them. But the storage compartments cost me $100 each! Hopefully, I can recoup some of that cost from selling these. All prices include shipping to the US. I am not sure about the market value for these items, so please feel free to give me an offer if you want. Audio 20 w/ CD radio - $220 6-disc CD changer - $150 cup holder (part 171 680 0214) - $65 ash tray + cigarette lighter (part 171 680 0152) - $65 For the cd changer, I still need to uninstall it. Might take me a few more days before I can uninstall that. PM me with questions.

Yeah, would appreciate it if you can post some pics on the storage units as-is as well as installed. I am thinking of doing the same since I think the cup holders and ashtray are useless. Also, why Eclipse over Pioneer or Alpine? I am thinking of installing a Pioneer AVIC-Z2, the only consideration I have is the absence of steering wheel control.

Here's a thread on a different forum with some info on my install: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...slk-280-a.html The 2 trays haven't arrived from the dealer yet. So they are not installed yet. I will take some pictures after everything is installed. I was actually deciding between Pioneer AVIC-Z2, Kenwood DNX7120 and Eclipse AVN6620. Kenwood has the Garmin nav, but I felt like the look and feel between the nav and the audio is too jarring. It just felt like 2 different systems. I didn't quite like the Pioneer's nav. It just didn't feel right. And I think what helped the Eclipse is that I was use to it. My Prius has the same nav and I really liked that. The bad things about the Eclipse is that it's DVD-based instead of HDD-based, so it's a bit slower to calculate routes I think. Plus it doesn't have search by category, which I personally don't use anyways.

The thing I like about Alpine is that you can plug and remove the Blackbird as in-dash as well as portable, but I'm not too impressed with its UI as well as performance. I like Garmin portable but not sure of its Kenwood's implementation. I have the AVIC-Z1 on my ML and like the interface though not too crazy about the voice command, I also prefer Navteq maps for US instead of the TeleAtlas that Pioneer uses. I also think Pioneer should use at least 12 channels and the latest SiRF III chipset to give faster and better lock response. Having said that, the Pioneer POI is really good and much more flexible than Garmin, search is good when you are on a long stretch of unfamiliar highway looking for Starbucks or something. HDD head unit is the way to go, DVD nav is thing of the past, even MB is using HDD for their latest S class nav. I can store tons of CDs in the unit instead of messing with CDs and iPod. Also, the Pioneer route learning does really work, it actually learns your peronal preference instead of being stubborn and insist on taking its own same way.

Oh yeah. I did consider the Alpine, but it came out to be much more expensive because I have to buy 2 separate units. I didn't need a portable GPS so I decided against it. Plus it didn't have text-to-speech. I do agree that HDD is definitely better. But the ease of use was more important for me. If only Eclipse had a double-din HDD unit...
