No drilling required for the Windrestrictor. I've not seen any requiring drilling.

Windrestrictor & MB use existing bolts, others use velcro straps on the roll over bars

Has anyone installed and tried both on their car? Right now I have the Wind Deflector, but I'm considering the OEM unit. I'm about 6'2" and with the top down and windows up, I still get some blowing on my hair.

Perhaps the seat is not adjusted to its lowest height?
My guess is that it'll be the same for both. How about investing in a cool-looking headwear or hat?

Default Windrestrictor bake light instructions??

Just installed the windrestrictor. Nice product. No drilling. Can be installed and removed in about 5 minutes. I do have a question to the forum however. I also purchased the light bar option with the brake/tail light cintroller Unit. Unfortunately, no instructions or recommendations for a custom install in my SLK350. I asked "windrestrictor" for info, but they stated they haven't ever been asked for instructions before, but would try to find some photos that may help. I would like to mount the control in trunk? But don't have any idea how to hook up to the tail lights and/or brake wires... any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think Widrestrictor used to offer a larger version that is door to door that blocks the wind from coming thru the roll bars?

I have both styles but I prefer the smaller version between the roll bars.

Default Wind deflector on sale!

I'm also selling a wind deflector in perfect but used condition. it includes the three parts which are the the plexy middle with frame, and the two inserts that go in the roll over triangles. reason for selling them is that the lease is up and the wind deflector I bought separately.. for 600.00 ouch! yes, that hurts.. but if you have the original mesh one.. that is a danger in itself, you cant see backward through it! Any way let me know if any of you is interested, I'm in Jacksonville Florida

Default Lexan vs Plexi-Glass

I've been doing a little reading up.

WindRestrictor and other after market solutions are often using Plexiglas while the OEM MB solution is Lexan.

Here's what I've learned:
Lexan is what they make race-car windshields and crash helmet visors out of. It's strong and doesn't shatter when it breaks. The DOT approves these products because of their safety attributes. However, Lexan scratches much easier than traditional Plexiglas and it doesn't transmit lighting.

Plexiglas is cheaper, lighter and transfers lighting. However, it's prone to crack and shatter when stressed which is why DOT doesn't like it and why MB doesn't make an OEM Plexiglass product.

WindRestrictor also likes Plexiglas because it transmits light. They offer cool etching and light-up options which simply won't work on Lexan.

Our products come with a warranty against cracking or shattering.

Tons of great reviews on our site. Also, the lexan just for the record is easily scratched. The thinner products have been buffeting more than most people care for.

We're having a great special on Ebay currently if anyone cares to check it out.

Simply go to our homepage and click on the ebay link to the left....
